Will this sustain a bioactive set up? As in will it rot over time by having loose substrate in it?

Answer by PatrickSep 26, 2022
Someone in a Facebook group I’m in made a bioactive setup for their beardie. Seems it’ll do fine, though I would apply some drylock to be safe

Can you make this enclosure bioactive?

Answer by NoxauraNov 22, 2025
Use some non toxic silicone to seal up the bottom for no escapees! Also, highly recommend this just for the humidity and to prevent any possible leakage when watering. All of my enclosures are bioactive and I've had no problems.

Does this have a gap underneath to support a heat mat going on the bottom/airflow for the mat?

Can you purchase replacement locks for this unit?

Cannot recommend!! Suggest do not buy, do not waste your money- its a gamble. I trusted the reviews that they would replace and broken parts and well that is HALF true. I have had the tank for two months and two pieces came broken (the bottom was chipped and the back half was completely in two pieces). The did sent me out a new bottom piece really quickly which was great- BUT two months have passed now and there is still no site of the replacement back piece. I was waiting until it arrived to write my review but since it really doesnt seem like it will ever actually arrive here we are. They have told me that it would go out soon twice now and there has been no development in over a week- I ordered the tank two months ago- this has been a huge hassle for a lot of money and has taken up so much space in my home that I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to save the money and skip this huge headache. I will likely be taping the back and just have to deal with a hideous tank. The tank is nice for what you’re paying but its definitely a risk I wish I didnt take. I have given up hope that the back panel will ever come so I put the tank together with the broken panel and will have to tape it or something to keep in the heat. Order this with caution - calling this an inconvenience is an understatement. I will never order from this company again or unfortunately anything this big from chewy.com either due to this experience with New Age Pet

Pretty good reptile enclosure

Going to do this in a list Pros - Good price - Simple assembly - Pretty nice looking (Inside and Out) - If tightened properly, super sturdy - Incredibly sturdy

Going to do this in a list Pros - Good price - Simple assembly - Pretty nice looking (Inside and Out) - If tightened properly, super sturdy - Incredibly sturdy netting for head lamp Cons - There is no cord ports requiring you to either use just basking or to drill a hole for cords for heating pads - Some of the edges were chipped - I had to unscrew the top to get the glass sliding doors, the instructs say they can fit in with it on but I was unable to - Some of the screw holes do no line up :( Not too big deal stuff - Edges have gaps requiring sealing for more humid species to prevent water from leaking. I use 100% silicone to seal them and it works like a charm - The screws are plastic, which isn't bad in itself, its the tool they give you to screw them in. It doesn't fit completely so slips quite a bit - Stackers are separate and design wise aren't appealing looking I'd been sitting on buying this enclosure to test out and I'm pretty happy with it despite some glaring issues. Past enclosures I've bought have been incredibly wobbly so for this one not to be wobbly is pretty epic.

Nice-looking enclosure! Minor improvements needed, but overall satisfied.

Appearance: Excellent Glass doors instead of plexiglass doors: Good choice! Light weight, easy to clean, not worries about mold. Minor issues: 1) Plastic screws

Appearance: Excellent Glass doors instead of plexiglass doors: Good choice! Light weight, easy to clean, not worries about mold. Minor issues: 1) Plastic screws are easy to strip if screwed too tight and you can cause cracks if you screw them on too tight. 2) The 15 gallon model needs the glass doors track to be higher or you need to put in PVC trim board (color almond to match the maple color) so you can have a substrate guard if you need higher/thicker substrate. 3) Enclosure needs a PVC screen cover to hold humidity with 6" cut outs for clamp light hoods. If you have a high humidity animal, you will need to use sarah wrap or plastic sheets to cover 80% of the screen so you don't lose humidity and heat so fast. See attached pic to show the substrate guard that I made from PVC materials from Lowes. 4) Enclosure is not water tight. You will need to use silicone to seal all corners. * Overall, I'm satisfied. Hope New Age Pets can make the changes suggested above. I use the 15 gallon model to keep large tarantulas, large scorpions, or small reptiles in.

A MUST HAVE!!! Can I Say It Again?! A MUST HAVE!!!

I am absolutely in mega love with this 150 gallon habitat! We turned it bioactive for our now 5 month old bearded dragon and haven't looked back! PLENTY of space!

I am absolutely in mega love with this 150 gallon habitat! We turned it bioactive for our now 5 month old bearded dragon and haven't looked back! PLENTY of space! and the options are endless! I highly recommend using aquarium safe silicone OR waterproof tape to seal the edges/cracks otherwise, your substrate and water will pour out and the isopods and springtails are likley to escape BUT its and easy fix with the right tools. I would definitely HIGHLY recommend any of these but the 150 gallon FOR SURE! Price was great too for the size and quality!!! Tried uploading pics but each pic is said to be too large haha.. TRUST ME.. A MUST HAVE!

Nice looking reptile tank

Bought these for a couple of bearded dragons, these look nice and aren’t an eyesore and work well with our pets. The quality isn’t the best, the screws are plastic

Bought these for a couple of bearded dragons, these look nice and aren’t an eyesore and work well with our pets. The quality isn’t the best, the screws are plastic and with the whole set it’s tall and nothing on the bottom shelf holds this on should kids accidentally pull or pus it but it was quick and easy to add a few bolts to secure this a bit more. It was fairly easy to put together and didn’t take long. With the quality of this the sale price makes it worth and I would purchase this again for that price but can’t say I would make this purchase at the full price. The tank also seems to run smaller than a true 120 gallons that it says it should be but it fulfills its purpose and works for us

DO NOT BUY

Unfortunately chewy is unable to have the enclosure delivered to you successfully without being damaged 4 out of the 6 I received were damaged even one of the replacements

Unfortunately chewy is unable to have the enclosure delivered to you successfully without being damaged 4 out of the 6 I received were damaged even one of the replacements came less damaged. Don’t get if you plan on needing more than one because as someone else mentioned in another review it’s a gamble on whether or not your item comes intact.

Great size and lightweight, but wait til it's on sale.

While I love the colors, love the idea of the recycled material, I was less than impressed by the build quality for the full price/$300 price range. I had more

While I love the colors, love the idea of the recycled material, I was less than impressed by the build quality for the full price/$300 price range. I had more issues with the way it was packaged. Small little breaks in the corners where walls meet, a big crack in the top (I was able to fix it with some caulking), and I'm not a fan of the way to apply the handles, if I was going for a clean look. Wait until it hits under $260 and it's worth the money. Otherwise it's a great size enclosure and pretty lightweight for the price range. I like the glass doors, the locking mechanism, even though I fear losing the "key" with my object permanence.

The quality

The sand leaking out of every corner, the directions are bad, and I had to seal edges with hot glue no way this thing should ever be 400$ the back piece didn’t fit

Poor Quality and Unrealistic Support

The tank is flat packed, like everything else these days. The box arrived two days light with no obvious signs of damage. Once I took all the parts out I noticed one of the side panels was cracked where the screws go. The package contained information to contact the manufacturer with pictures so that’s what I did. A few hours later I was told the specific replacement part was out of stock and it would take 3-4 weeks for a replacement to be made. I don’t know how you run out of replacement parts unless this is a reoccurring problem meaning this product has known flaws. So now I have a tank I can’t put together for a month that I need to try to cram back into a box for a return and still need to find a proper tank for my tortoise.

Poor design

This wasn’t made with a gecko in mind despite being advertised as so. There are gaps in the walls so the sand doesn’t stay in. The manufacturer also left plastic

This wasn’t made with a gecko in mind despite being advertised as so. There are gaps in the walls so the sand doesn’t stay in. The manufacturer also left plastic saw dust all over the tank. I had to clean it really well and sand the edges to make sure my gecko didn’t digest the plastic. The lock mechanism is also odd. The lock part fully comes out making it easy to lose. The tank also can slightly damaged but not enough to return.
