My 18 month old golden retriever shreds any toy he can get his paws on. The reviews of this toy were promising in terms of its durability. We got the XL, and it was indeed extra large. Pretty cute when he was dragging it around. Unfortunately, he had most of the insides and the larger “grunt” squeaker out within 5 minutes. There are individual squeakers in each of the legs, so he next moved to those. They took a little longer, but the entire hedgehog was demolished within the hour.
My dog loves squeaky toys and this hedge hog has a squeaker he approves of. He usually chews off any part of the toy that sticks out but not this toy. I approve of the toy's construction. My grown daughter commented that she has found the Outward Hound toys to be well made and sturdy. Her dogs are much bigger and so have the large hedge hog. My dog has the small one and we named it "Dinsdale".
Loved but I ordered too small of a size. I have a lab and shepsky. So the toy was a lot smaller than wanted. Great product still. They love it still. About the size of a softball or large apple
I got this toy for one of my dog friends and I did not realize that I ordered the extra large but I am not mad. I gave this to a dog that can destroy toys and stuffies easily and while he's taken some of the feet off and made a hole in the side, it's still intact and he sometimes uses it as a pillow. I would personally buy this again and again.
We have been trying to find a replacement for a very durable possum toy that my dog is in love with. He uses it as his "voice." He knows barking is a no-no, so the possum's squeaker allows him to tell us what he wants and he also tells Squirrels, Lizards, and other Doggos to back off with it. We know it has limited life span (although he has had it now for 2 years!). It is no longer available. We bought similar possums but they are junk. This looked like a possible option. However, within 5 minutes of him having it, he started choking on the fur that was shedding into his mouth and throat IMMEDIATELY. I grabbed it and pulled lightly on the fur and it just came out like it was not even attached! What the heck? He has a snuggle puppy (and we have back-ups) that he has loved since birth (he gets a new one about every 6 months and is fine with that) but those don't squeak. That is his nap and sleep buddy, not his hunting and monitoring buddy. Is there any toy left besides Snuggle Puppy that isn't junk? He isn't a heavy chewer but he is a patient pull it with his teeth until it rips-er. Chewy do better! Source better toys! Build some!
My dog absolutely loves his hedgie - why I dont know but he does. Whenever someone comes over the first thing he does is grab his hedgie to show them. He is so proud of it.
My dog LOVED this toy!! It has 2 squeakers, 1 traditional squeaker and 1 honking squeaker, and it kept my dog entertained for hours. I haven't seen him love a toy this much in a while. He did rip it apart a few days after we gave it to him, but that is typical for him. He played with it longer than most of his other toys though before destroying it :)
My golden doodle never plays with toys even though my other two always do. He grabbed this one and went away from others so he could have it to himself. Surprise success.
I'm super bummed about this toy. It's so adorable but it arrived already torn underneath. It looks as though it wasn't sewn right to begin with, as the edge of the material is cleanly cut but doesn't reach over to the leg of the toy where it should have been sewn to. My dog is heartbroken but this is one he can't play with.
Purchased for my Boston Terriers. Within 30 minutes the face separated from the body. I would recommend for dogs that are not chewers.
