Questions & Answers

My dog loves this! Unfortunately, she’s a little rough and has torn a hole in the tree. I see there are replacement squirrels, what about a replacement tree?

Answer by KarenDec 23, 2024
The replacement is to purchase another one. They don’t sell just replacement tree stumps.

Is this machine washable?

Answer by ChewyFeb 12, 2026
Outward Hound suggests spot cleaning the toy. To spot clean or hand wash, you can make a homemade baking soda stain remover or use a white vinegar solution with warm water and liquid soap, and air dry. If the toy is placed in a laundry bag on a gentle cycle, that should work as well.

Is there somewhere to hide a treat on the squirrels?

Answer by Rene B.Feb 09, 2026
No, the squirrels don't have spots where you can hide treats.

I like interactive toys that require the dog to think about the solution. It is possible to hide the squirrels inside making the dog search for them or do they all stick out?

Answer by ChewyApr 29, 2024
The squirrels can be stuffed into the plush tree trunk for your pet to sniff out.

I honestly didn't expect Boone to play with this very much because he's not really into toys in general, but I needed a gift for him to unwrap at Christmas (yeah, I know) and this was what we chose. When he got it Christmas morning he sniffed it and left it alone, so we thought he didn't care for it. It sat in the living room floor for a couple of days, and then we found it in another room. The next day we found it on the couch, but one of the squirrels was on our bed. Ever since then he has played with it every day, carrying the little tree trunk up and down the stairs, squirrels in different rooms or all together while he plays and chews on them. He seriously plays with it every day, and he'll sometimes bring me the trunk for me to reload the squirrels. He'll then run off to another room and play with them. The squirrels do squeak but he seemingly deliberately avoids biting down on the squeaker, so his play is silent. After a month and a half he's worn out two of the squirrels (not bad quality, they just get played with constantly), and we got the replacement squirrels because he's still not tired of it. I guess your mileage may vary, but for Boone this is the best toy ever. He absolutely loves it.

Once our puppy figured out she could remove the squirrels from the trunk, she became very focused on pulling them all out. The only down side is now she brings me the empty trunk wanting me to fill it back up again. Pro tip, this toy is best used in a playpen or other smaller space as she scatters the squirrels leaving them everywhere.

This toy is extremely cute and the first thing my 10 month Shepherd puppy pulled out of the Chewy box. After getting all of the packaging removed and stuffing the squirrels back in she began playing. She enjoyed the squeaky squirrels but seemed to be more interested in the log. Unfortunately within minutes she had chewed around the tree knots and broken into the stuffing. If you have an extreme chewer this is not for your dog.

My nearly 8 month old puppy loves his interactive stuffed toys, so much so that I sometimes get tired of restuffing them 12 times a day. He loves his latest one with six squirrels (although they look more like chipmunks to me.) Unfortunately he’s so good at these games, and there are multiple openings, that he can remove all the critters in about 30 seconds. Apparently he needs more of a challenge. Sigh. But I am really good at stuffing them back in.

My mousy loves her squeak babies. She loves to first pull out the babies outside of the trunk, then pull out all the fluff to get the squeak, and she will drag her squirrels all over the house. Plus she is so happy and excited that she was able to get the squeak out. Once the squirrels are all deep left she will chew on the trunk for months before it's destroyed. I guess that's what her favorite part? It is a great dog toy. We've had to replace this exact option multiple times.

We thought this toy would be more of a puzzle for creative play. Harper sniffed and began licking each cute little squirrel. We realized that she thought they were [her] puppies! She usually chews up little toys, but not these! They are her surrogate pups! Love it!

We have two Rottweilers and we needed something to get their attention. They love this thing! We shove the squirrels inside and they shake the log up to get the squirrels out. Then they poke in the holes to make sure they got all the squirrels. They have quickly broken all of the squeakers inside the squirrels but they're still interested!

This just cracks us up! He brings the “squirrel house” around the house with him and we put the squirrels back in the house and he hunts them out (he’s a Jack Russell :)) he absolutely loves this toy! It’s genius! And it’s the first toy where he squeaks and chews on the squirrels but he doesn’t rip them up; for some reason he keeps them intact so he can play the game of “put them in/take them out”. Absolutely the best toy yet!!!
