The wand and handle are held together by Friction Force technology and should only come apart when the pet parent is trying to separate them.

Because these appear to be real feathers I won't buy them. Can the stick be purchased seperately?

While the wand is not available separately, the Pet Fit For Life 5 Piece Squiggly Worm Wand Cat Toy and Pet Fit For Life Plush Wand Teaser Dog Toy do not feature feathers.

This is the magnetic type that the cat can walk off with the feathers, not just chase them, right?

The wand cat toy attachments are clipped on, they are not magnetic.

Slightly problematic but an easy fix

Both cats adore this toy. They like anything with feathers and unlike some others I’ve bought in the past, these lures hold up through a lot of rough play (though eventually i can see that the cats will still yank all the feathers out; that’s inevitable and will happen with any feather toy at some point). They are getting a ton of exercise chasing it. The wand pieces are flexible and strong. However, as others have pointed out, the wand comes in two pieces and they separate constantly. One fits into the other but they don’t screw together or having anything really holding them together and of course the cats are constantly pulling on the end of the rod so it’s bound to come apart. I’m giving 4 stars because this problem was easily fixed by putting the rod together and then running a piece of masking tape around the joint. Easy fix and it hasn’t come apart since. I’m sure duct tape would also work.

Our cat Chancla loves this toy! While playing she jumps, dives, twirls around! She goes crazy, I’m pleasantly surprised at her response to this toy. Chancla was traumatized when we picked her up at the shelter. Whoever had her before mistreated her! She was coming along slowly adjusting to us and this toy helped bring her out of her shell. After a workout she rests better and finally cuddles with us.

This toy is built very well and my cat absolutely is crazy about it. She loves to play with it in the house or around the backyard. We walk around with it and dangle it in front of her and she grabs it and leads us around the house. If I put it on the counter because she's tired me out, she'll sit and stare at it for hours. Just make sure if you buy this that you have plenty of time and energy to play with this with your cat

We love the toy! It is amazing quality and does most of its job. My cat likes to jump high up and catch the feather in the air. With this, when he lands he pulls the wand. It comes in 2 pieces and when he pulls it comes apart. No matter how hard I push the pieces together or twist them together it comes with the same result. I appreciate its sturdiness and the quality of the toy but it would be perfect if there was a way to twist it on. Could have just been and issue with the one I got but if you have a rough playing cat I would recommend a different brand :). Otherwise it’s perfect for light playing!
