How much noise does the launcher make?

Answer by ChewyOct 20, 2025
The launcher makes a slight clicking sound when the ball launches.

How far does it shoot the balls when fired?

Answer by ChewyOct 14, 2025
The distance the ball launches can vary and is based on how deep the ball is placed in the launcher and how hard the trigger is pulled. The maximum distance is around 30 to 40 feet.

How many balls can you load into the launcher at a single time?

Answer by ChewyDec 01, 2025

Have had no problems with it. Keiki looks for it when I put it away. Brings the balls back to me so we can do it all night! He delights in chasing them. I do it near eye level so he can track them. If we lost it, I'd get another. Worth the price. He has no trouble with the sound of the launch. He even pawed it in my lap twice and meowed at me to stay on top of the game. Its a little smaller than it looks, a good size.

Fun for both pet and owner, my cat goes chasing the balls that are launched. With a cool and fun design for interactive play time, just gently but firmly pull back the firing pin until it locks into place with a click, load in a ball, aim, then pull the trigger. Can go clear across the room with its spring mechanic. With six balls of every five colors, it makes it easy to keep track for cleaning up afterwards after a good play session. If color of the toy doesn't matter, I recommend getting this ball launcher with a variety pack paired with it. While first playing with it while trying to figure out how it works, I thought that it'll be cool to see a ball launcher shaped like a party popper too.

I thought this would be a big hit! I saw other reviews that said their cats were scared of the toy, but mine have played with similar guns that shoot nerf darts (and I thought the soft pom poms would be less of an oof if they ricocheted and bounced off of kitty). Something about the sound that this one makes terrifies my cat and he hides when I get it out. I tried to slowly condition him to it but he is not having it. He does love the pom poms though (he's always been a big fan of those), and is happy to play with and chase those if you toss them across the room by hand.

The irony is that I have a 15 pound miniature schnauzer that loves this toy more than anything. She does not try to swallow the pom-poms. The toy does let off a loud bang when it releases the pom-poms but for her it’s a signal that we’re about to have fun! I don’t know if cats would be freaked out by the noise, but my dog loves it. That gun did break after about a month. I called and had a replacement sent out right away with no issue. I highly suggest this toy for hours of fun with your pet.

Taco Cat is so happy chasing 30 puffballs around and I have so much fun popping the puffballs out of the plastic toy!!! It's a great time for both of us!!! Machete Kitty is a little put off by the little noise the toy makes when the spring loaded launcher pops the little puffballs into the air but it isn't a noisy toy... Machete is older and is easily annoyed by young and boisterous Taco so that is definitely a factor. He has other favorite toys and games but will still participate in chasing puffballs if I toss them by hand. We all highly recommend this toy and will be purchasing it again and filling the entire house with joyful puffballs!!!

My cat loves to chase pom poms around the house so I thought this would add more fun to her playtime. She loves the new pom poms, but the launcher itself is really loud. I think the spring is super tight. Whenever I launched a pom pom, she'd jump at the sound and leave the room, returning a few minutes later to pounce on the new pom pom on the ground. I'm going to try a few things to see if the spring can be muffled a bit and will update if I make any progress.

Dandy loves a ball, and every ball launcher on the market. I’ve tried them all, he’s loved them all. Not this one. This one is loud, and shoots the ball so fast that he can’t follow it. Not that it matters, he’s usually too distracted by the sound to try to track it. He’ll play with the plush balls all day, once he finds one, but the launcher is a gimmick that seems to be more for the entertainment of the human. My cat doesn't startle easy, he’s very confident and incredibly playful, but this isn’t it. More suitable for a child, than a cat. Save your money & just buy the balls.

I got this because my cat loves to play with my sons Nerf guns. They played with it for HOURS. I even had to slow my son down because the kitty was enjoying just chasing the balls down so much! The noise is not that loud (just what you would expect from a light nerf gun) and worth every penny! It also came with a TON of pom-poms. Amazing toy, great buy for the whole family.

It's surprisingly loud

I have 3 cats and a dog. One of my cats and my dog hides everytime I bring these out. However 2 of my cats have a blast. So its only appreciated by half my pets. My husband and I shoot them at each other so the cats can chase back and forth and we dont have to go as far to find all the balls. Its a REALLY fun idea but the execution isnt there yet. That being said it was inexpensive for a specialty toy so I guess you get what you pay for

The little popping sound the plastic gun makes when it shoots out the pompom ball startles one of our cats a little bit but she adjusts after a while. She doesn't seem to like the ball being launched this way though. She only likes to play with the pompom balls once they've landed and aren't moving anymore. Our other cat gets into a lot more and occasionally will fetch the pompoms back so we cat shoot them again. The toy works well and the pompoms are not able to hurt the cats but can scare them a bit when shot out if your cats tend to be anxious or fearful. Good luck keeping track of all the pompom balls though. I know when we move the couch, there will be a treasure trove of pompoms under it.
