About This Item

Details

  • Bene-Bac is a nutritional supplement that provides digestive support to pups, kitties, exotic animals, and wildlife mammals for changing conditions such as birth, breeding, post-surgery, antibiotic therapy, weaning, worming, showing, boarding, and travel.
  • This powder contains concentrated FOS and live, naturally occurring microorganisms found in the intestinal tract of small mammals.
  • This supplement is recommended as part of the management for animals subjected to adverse conditions, and it may be used for regular maintenance in some situations.
  • Give once weekly to dogs and cats as part of a healthy diet program, every third day to orphaned infants until weaning, or daily for animals on antibiotics. Probiotics aid in digestion while modulating the immune system as well as inhibiting the growth and activity of harmful bacteria, such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Clostridium perfringens, all while helping to prevent urinary tract infections, reducing allergic reactions and controlling inflammation.
  • This supplement is not for human consumption, and it’s best to consult your veterinarian before adding to your buddy’s diet.

Questions & Answers

if I gave the recommended dose to a rat daily or ever other day how long would it last?

Answer by ChewyNov 11, 2019
This 4.5 ounce (127 grams) container will contain approximately 47 teaspoon servings, since 1 level teaspoon equals approximately 2.7 grams of powder. If only giving 1/4 teaspoon each time, it would last 188 doses.

Would this help with diarrhea?

Answer by ChewyNov 07, 2018
The concentrated live cultures in this product aid digestion and modulate the immune system for your pet. The probiotics included may help prevent urinary tract infections, and can even reduce allergic reactions by decreasing intestinal permeability and controlling inflammation.

I used BB powder before when my ferrets had ECE and it seemed to help above anything else. Maybe it is problem-based but I have had no luck with it this time for either of my ferrets. The price is great. And maybe it helps with basic GI balance problems. I hate that the first ingredient is dextose. While minimal amounts are given, when it becomes a routine diet additive, sugar can be problematic. Perhaps it is needed for absorption of the ingredients but I am not sure.

Use this for my 2 dogs and rescue kitty. Cat had loose stool with bad odor and this product helped digestion, stool became normal and foods no longer irritated her gut. Also FYI everyone this is NOT FOR BIRDS (Avians) it is for mammals only. Benebac used to make a similar probiotic for avians but discontinued it. This is fantastic product for mammals but not birds. I wish Benebac would bring back the avian/ reptile probiotic, was also very good.

Dog ate her food with the product sprinkled over it

We saw no difference in her bowel movements, which was the primary reason for purchasing this product.

My diabetic cat Nacho was having bouts of vomiting despite his BG being normal. He has IBS and takes Famotidine but these probiotics are wonderful in easing these bouts of indigestion or irritable stomach. They have truly helped him. He’s on a low carb diet for his diabetes and loves his food but he often gulps his food leading to vomiting of food besides his IBS.

I usually buy the Benebac gel in the tube and it works great for a cat with diarrhea or soft stools. But, it gets expensive to use the tubes on my big dogs. This works as good as the gel and easy to put in the dog’s food. A must have for those emergencies where the dirt and grass that my dogs eat upsets their digestive track.

It’s a great value and our cats need this

My vet said my cats should be on probiotics. I sprinkle it on their food- tasteless to them. Helps keep them regular and aids in digestion just like in humans!

Good Probiotic

Benebac is good stuff. The gel version is more convenient, but I have one foster that gets diarrhea from the gel, every time. That doesn't happen with the powder

It seems to help

Im not sure if it’s the food change or this probiotic but it has helped with diarrhea. One of my kittens won’t even let me mix it in fully without him eating it
