Will this ramp work on concrete steps
Answer by ChewyAug 14, 2018
While this ramp can be used on stairs, there are limitations. The “pitch” of stairs is generally much steeper than ramps (think of wheelchair ramps outside of buildings), so placing the ramp over the top of stairs will make it too steep to use. If the staircase only consists of a few steps, then the ramp might work but the bottom of the ramp must be placed farther out than the bottom step. The average “height” of individual steps (known as the “rise”) is 7-8 inches. By referring to the “recommended height” figure for a given ramp, you can determine how many steps can be covered safely.

Can the top be secured to make the ramp more permanent?
Answer by ChewyMay 31, 2018
This product is not able to be secured in one place. It's designed to be lifted up and moved around.

Answer by ChewyJan 01, 2018
This ramp isn't intended to stay outdoors and should be stored inside when not in use.

what is the HEIGHT of the sides? I need it to fit in a 5.5" drawer space..
Answer by ChewyFeb 13, 2018
The height of the sides is 4 inches for both sizes.

Dog Car Ramp for LARGE DOGS

I previously bought a different type of dog ramp, however, even though it was American made, it was clearly made just for small, light weight dogs. So I kept researching and found the PetSale Telescoping Dog Car Ramp, picturing a German Shepard. I figured this should work for my Alaskan Malamute & Leonberger (they weigh 120 / 100 pounds). Training was easy, just use some treat. Surface is nice a catchy / non-slip. The ramp is a little on the heavy side to load and unload into car, but that's also why it is more sturdy, and made for large dogs. Both my dogs are not 8 years old. I bought the ladder to be prepared for their senior years... I think it's a great product, and is made for large dogs. I gave a 4 out of 5 star rating, only because of the weight of the product, other then that, it is a 5 star product... :)

Just what we needed!

I needed a side ramp off my deck, until I find someone to build my stairs on that side. This works great. I got the extra large size. I have two dogs, and they both weigh 30 pds. I put a motion light near for them at night. Unfortunately as I was trying to take these photos I fell off the deck onto the ramp. Quite a painful fall. I bent the ramp. I weigh 135. But the ramp survived. I put my foot on the ramp for balance to get down with a step ladder and it slipped sideways and I toppled over. You can see the bend. That is operator error, not the ramp. :) I have now secured the ramp much better with some blocks and bungied it to the deck.

Quality Ramp

We had a heavy duty plastic with marine carpet dog ramp that was coming apart after 8 years. I reviewed large ramps for large breed dogs and this one kept popping up. Secure for my newfies getting into a pickup truck with a lift kit. Took a bit to get used to the texture change on their paws, and I think it would be great if they offered this ramp with a marine carpet surface (only reason for not 5 stars). So much lighter than what you would expect for holding so much weight.

Best investment ever

I purchased this ramp after spending over $7,000 on having my dogs knees rebuilt. I think that jumping into the car was a contributing factor in damaging his knees. This ramp is strong, my dog uses it, and yes it can feel like a pain in the ... sometimes, but he uses it and feels comfortable with its sturdiness. It doesn't bounce like the plastic ones do.

Difficult to use for a "slightly" older person

The good news is that my Labrador Retriever did use this ramp with a lot of coaxing. It is wide enough for a larger dog and because of the length, the incline is very gradual which is good. However, I found it very difficult to set up and the surface material is horrible. It's like sandpaper! I accidentally scraped a knuckle on the surface material and it took the skin right off! It is VERY rough! While I was able to set this ramp up at home in the driveway with the dog in the house, I don't know how easy it's going to be to set up at the vet's office which is the main place I will need to use it. I'm sure my vet's office will help me with that and keep him inside while I set up the ramp. All-in-all, I'm very happy he used it so that I can now get him to the vet but I think they need to use a better surface material, such as rubber.

Cant recommend

This ramp worked for about 2 months. We bought because our dog hurt her back and we didnt want her tripping up stairs. Our dog weighs 40 lbs, my husband is 200 lbs and I'm 140 lbs, all well under the weight limit for this ramp. After about 2 months the ramp started to buckle in the middle of the length of the ramp. It's now unusable because it has bent so much that it's ready to give way in the middle. We keep it up for the dog to use but we have to open our RV door wide open, step to the side of the ramp onto a very small space where the steps are and pull ourselves into the RV until we can afford to buy a better quality ramp.

Older dog ramp

Recently purchased this for our 12 year old Golden who is having problems with his back legs. I have spent many days doing research on ramps and what’s the best one for our situation. This ramp seemed like it would be a good fit. The ramp is a lightweight which is a plus. It does extent to a good size, especially if you only need it to cover 3 or 4 steps. Problem is we can’t stop it from sliding out and he fell on it . Another issue is my dog is picky and stubborn he doesn’t like change. The surface is no slip but he hates the texture of it. Refuses to walk on it . It is a good product it doesn’t seem to work for us and our senior dog.

Best ramp for large dogs!

At first I thought it was a little pricey, but after seeing the quality and how well it works I love it!!! I have a massive 110lb Doberman that has bad hips and this allows him to get in and out of my Toyota 4 runner with ease. The traction grip is legit and doesn't let my dog slip. I will add that it is a teeny tiny bit heavy, however I am a small 100lb female. 10/10 product.

Sturdy and wide

Great dog ramp for my two 90 lb Labs that are 9 years old and are now experiencing arthritis in their hips, making it difficult to jump up into our Nissan Pathfinder SUV. They took to it right away using the leash to guide them up and down. Sturdy and nice and wide. Heavier than expected. Handle tight and flimsy for the weight of the ramp - should be improved. Otherwise very helpful purchase.

Good Pet Ramp

The ramp works great and my dogs took to using it fairly quickly. Within the first week of use my dog with tendinitis stopped limping around the house. Thank you! My only concern is the snap that holds it closed broke off on day 3 of use and only 1 handle made of the same material probably won't last long either. Wish there was a handle on both sides because it's only easy to setup on one side of my truck but I manage to use it on either side.
