Can this be installed in hardy board siding?

This pet door can be installed in a home with Hardie board siding. To install this pet door, you will need to carefully cut out the Hardie trim to incorporate the pet door. Keep in mind that altering your home's Hardie trim will nullify the warranty.
Can I purchase a second sliding door to help with really bad winter days.

A Happy Wiener

We installed the pet door in a wall under a window and it works perfectly. Our new wiener puppy is still working on potty training and this door has made that process much easier. She was a bit frightened of it initially but with a few pinches of chicken to persuade her, she is pushing right through. The double flap helps keep the environments where they should be and the locking door keeps it safe when needed.

Works Great!

This product was easy to install and works great. My dog is close to 50 pounds and was able to fit in and out, no problem. One thing to note, is that the flap is very thin and lightweight. This makes it easy for my dog to open, but also easy for the wind to push open. Debris made its way into the house many times, but that was not a dealbreaker. I would highly recommend.

Just what we needed!

My ADU is under construction as is the catio deck that I'm certain my kitties will spend a lot of time in. They will be free to come and go from inside to outside with their own door in the wall, next to mine. Love this!

Good product! Be smart to install it though!

Read directions carefully, have your tool ready. Product is a quality doggie door. Should make for many happy hours of ins and outs! Way to go! Did a lot of research and this is a good one.

Great Product - replacement flaps expensive

Pro: Love having this doggy door, works - easy install for older somewhat handy granny. Big Con: If you have to replace a flap they are over $37 EACH to replace - need 2 flaps which is close to the price I paid for the whole kit on sale. Seems ridiculous pricey to me Cons: Needs to have some sort of lock for when it's closed - somewhat flimsy plastic material frame (expected better for the price) but again, it does the job

Not suitable for active dogs!

For our two active dogs that use the large door constantly to go in and out of to access the dog run and the backyard, it only lasted about a year before the outside plastic frame with flap was broken off and unrepairable. I highly recommend an aluminum frame for sturdiness if your in a similar scenario.
