Can you really flush the poop down the toilet? It doesn't damage the pipes?
Answer by NLochJun 26, 2023
I am speaking from someone who works in the Water/Waste Water field. If you want to save money on your water bills or save your septic system- don't flush anything down the drain except the 3 P's: Poo, Paper (TP), and Pee, that is human waste. Fixing a pump or a water main break is expensive. Even if something says it's flushable- it is not.

Does Pretty Litter contain Diatomaceous Earth?
Answer by ChewyOct 24, 2022
This litter does not contain Diatomaceous Earth. PrettyLitter is made of super absorbent Silica Gel, combined with a proprietary health indicating formula to help you monitor your cat's urine for acidity and alkalinity levels outside the average range, plus the visible presence of blood. Silica Gel litter is made from naturally occurring minerals, so PrettyLitter is safe for your cat and friendly for the whole household. PrettyLitter is manufactured in one of the world's largest and most trusted kitty litter plants sourcing its own silica microgels using carefully selected mineral sources. In addition, the manufacturing facility uses the highest quality control standards.

what does pretty litter do for the solid waste?
Answer by ChewyJan 27, 2023
PrettyLitter reacts to certain urinary elements such as levels of acidity and alkalinity to make color changes visible to the naked eye or show blood. It does not react to feces.

Is PrettyLitter safe to use with kittens?
Answer by ChewyNov 06, 2022
This litter is safe for use with cats of all ages. PrettyLitter uses naturally occurring minerals that are safe for cats, even when they breathe or ingest it. Of course, ingesting a lot of any type of litter is not great, so keep an eye on your cat if they love to munch on litter.

Descent

I discovered crystal litter about a year ago and am glad I did because one of my two cats was getting an ucky nail fungus from clay litter. That stopped completely after switching to pretty litter. I also really liked how I didn’t have to buy any more doggy bags and throw the scooped out poop in my garbage can. Alas, I found a few drawbacks to this litter. My biggest complaint with this litter is that it does not last the advertised length of time. I have two cats and use one 8-lb bag for one larger-sized litter box. You would think that if one bag is advertised to last two months for one cat, then adding a second cat would just reduce that time to 1 month. That was definitely not the case. I have to change out the litter every week because it smells pretty bad and turns yellow. I clean the litter daily ( at least twice a day ) and make sure to stir it but it still won’t last more than a week. I don’t mind changing the litter weekly but the cost one four 8-lb bags a month adds up. I really wish there were a cheaper option and will try other crystal litters to compare .

Ineffective and dangerous

I am not sure how they calculated that a bag would last a month. Probably for one tiny kitten? I have 2 adult cats and 2 litter boxes. First of all, I took one of my cats to the vet because the color of the litter changed to blue. After a lab and a few hundred dollars, no UTIs or other concerns were found. Secondly, I followed the instructions, but no amount of stirring would help absorb the smell of cat urine. It becomes saturated by day 5 or 6. It also tracks more than any litter I have ever used. My long haired cats were just covered in litter. The perspective of them ingesting silica particles when they are grooming, is quite concerning.

“What did we do before Pretty Litter?!”

That’s a direct quote from my husband lol. He was changing the litter one night and he texts me a picture and asks, “What does this color mean?!” So I quickly pull up the Chewy app and go through the photos to find the color codes. Everything is normal and within range so I let him know it’s all good. He’s instantly relieved and asks, “What did we do before Pretty Litter?!” I’m so glad we started using this bc having two cats, one of which has a heart condition, this helps us worry about one less thing!

multi cat friendly

We have tried lots of different letters over the years, and being a five cat household it is not easy to find something that works for everyone. Pretty litter definitely has been the best option by far for our particular needs. We have a elderly cat with a predisposition to bladder stones and kidney issues, so the ability to monitor the alkaline levels in her urine is of the highest priority. While we have tried other crystal litters and “medical “litters to monitor her urine pH balance, pretty litter by far exceeds them. It masks the scent of urine and feces extremely well. While we do have to change it a little bit more regularly than they advertise, it is a small price to pay to keep our house, smelling fresh and clean, and ensure that all of our cats have healthy lives. Definitely worth the price point for us, I would recommend buying it in the bulk packs to help keep costs down. Also note the size of the package, originally we order directly from the manufacturer, because we thought it would be cheaper. However, the bags were smaller. So be sure to check the net weight of the bag before placing your order to calculate what price per ounce is the best value. At this time, chewy has the best value.

Disappointed

Super disappointed in this litter. Yeah it changes pretty colors to show your cats health, but doesn't clump at all. So now all the 'pretty litter' is mixed with the clean litter and that doesn't do it for me. This is the WORST 'clumping' cat litter I have ever used. And it gets everywhere after the cats leave the box. The pieces are so small, it stays stuck in the cats paws. I was super hopefully to continue to use this to monitor my cats health but I can't keep my cat box clean if the litter doesn't clump. It just falls right through my cat scoop. I will never buy this again.

Low Dust, Low Tracking!

These are two of the most important features of a cat litter for me. Yes, this litter is expensive. But one of our cats has had urinary crystal blockages twice —Very expensive to fix! So this litter gives me some peace of mind that we could catch and address any stress issues before it happens again. Still, the price outrageous compared to other litters and having a competitor hasn’t decreased it one bit.

I Tried! Didn't Last.

I really wanted to like it. It worked incredibly for the first two weeks (1 cat, 1 box), but by week three it was so smelly. We were practically begging to any God that might listen that our second shipment would come early so that we could stop smelling the box. I've never had this issue with standard clay clumping, but I usually scoop that every other day. I discontinued my shipment of Pretty Litter; we cannot live with the odor it produces after a few weeks, especially given the cost.

Impressed until week 3

This litter says it works for multiple cats. It also says up to 2 months (for the price it should) but since I have 3 full grown cats that use the same box, I expected it to last about half the time listed. Well, at week 2 it started kicking up a lot of dust during scooping (I had to hold my breath.) I was impressed with how dried out the fecal matter was, basically able to throw it away without having to take it out, but I wouldn't want to flush it since there were bits of the cilica attached to the poops. About week 3, it just smelled like urine and wasn't absorbing anymore. I'd scoop it and the litter was just caked up and gross, wouldn't even break apart without a big mess. Luckily I had a bag of other litter because I had to completely dump the "pretty litter." Definitely not impressed and definitely not spending that kind of money on cat litter that doesn't even last a month.
