I have two picky cats and I am fostering seven more. Every single one of them adores these shrimpies. Do they smell? YES, SO MUCH. But that is what makes them a great bribe. No issues there. Chewy is the cheapest place to get them, too, but I am probably going to stop buying them here. Why? Because what I usually order is a 20lb bag of litter, a 16-lb bag of kibble, an entire box of canned food, and these. These little tiny delicate shrimpies that are the consistency of popcorn and packed in an envelope. And every single time, they arrive pulverized to dust. You barely get any in the envelope anyway and they're pretty expensive as treats go, so to have them arrive smushed is super annoying. Chewy CS offers to replace them or suggests that you order them separately. The first costs me time and the second costs me money. I will probably just stop buying them here.
This is the second time I've gotten these. I have now put them in a sealed glass jar. Otherwise it was stinking up my kitchen!, she gets it freezed minnow and a couple of these for snacks at night to keep her satisfied until breakfast. She is now off the crunchy so there's no longer a full bowl of dry food every night. My vet told me no more crunchies overnight, she's getting too chunky. They're gone by morning so pretty sure she likes them. As soon as I put them in her bowl I run.
Our cat didn't care for them and after we opened the bag they stunk up the whole house! Even with the bag sealed the odor was strong. We tried putting them in 2 different containers (one all plastic, one glass with plastic lid) and the smell. Managed to permeate through both of them. We finally threw them out in the backyard for other critters to enjoy. A couple days later we went outside and noticed a fishy odor. We finally realized it was these shrimp!
These smell SOOO bad haha, like they stink up the entire room even without opening the bag. But this is a healthy treat for my diabetic cat and she LOVES them. It's an excellent reward for her tolerating her insulin shots, and we just ordered several more bags. She loves the shrimp but did not care for the chicken variety at all.
Cats love these, but the ones I had gotten in the past were reduced to crumbs soon. Now for whatever reason, they are all intact little shrimp - no crumbling.
I have one of the finickest cats in history I'm sure. Check out my YouTube channel @SeraphinaTuxedoCat To my surprise she loves these treats! I mix them in her evening cruchies as she eats raw sm-md shrimp 3 meals daily 2-5x depending on hunger, for total of 6-9 daily. She gets 2 measured cups of crunchies to nibble between meals. One grainful with anything but salmon which she won't eat ever mixed with raw air dried cod chips I just discovered on Chewy and Temptations Blissful Catnip treats. This helps keep her active and playful. She has no syblings yet. We are trying to move overseas asap. When she's in heat every 4-6wks she eats less raw shrimp but an extra helping of crunchies as requested. At night she gets grain free crunchies with Ziwi air dried Chicken (or lamb in winter) and now these dried shrimp puffs which she loves. I've already ordered a bunch more!
All four of my kitties go wild for these treats, they love them sprinkled on their wet food at meal time.
My guys just seem to love freezed dried fish stuff. They especially like these shrimps. One just will not do!
Kitty does not like the freeze-dried shrimp treats, but she enjoys several of the other treats that PureBites sells. I definitely recommend PureBites as a brand.
I've had my turtle a very long time. They enjoy krill but the kind they sell for turtles is so expensive and you get less. I started buying these instead years ago because it's just 100% wild shrimp, nothing else so I knew it would be fine for him. It's inexpensive (used to be even cheaper) and a bag lasts a long time since I only treat him occasionally. I prefer when I get a bag that had whole shrimp because when I get a lot of dusty powder in the bag I can't add that to his tank as he not only wouldn't be able to eat it but it will muck up the tank fast. So if I have powder towards the bottom of the bag I add it to my dog's food to reduce waste (or could sprinkle on your garden for a fertilizer boost). That said, I highly recommend this for turtle owners. Haven't needed to buy a bag in awhile so let's hope it's still as high quality.
