This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

for a French kitty
By arie on Dec 23, 2020
I recently made the move from France to return to the US and I had to bring my kitty with me — I adopted her in France. The wet food they have in France is different from the wet food in the US. My girl only likes chunks in gravy, so challenge number one. Challenge number two, I wanted something that I knew she would like. She’s only had Royal Canin, Sheba and Whiska’s. Whiska’s was a bust and the type of Sheba food she would eat isn’t available anywhere in the US! So I was very pleased when I found reasonably priced Royal Canin on here. In France, it comes in pouches and there seems to be a bit more in the pouches than these cans, but my girl’s a little chubby anyway so that won’t harm her I recently made the move from France to return to the US and I had to bring my kitty with me — I adopted her in France. I was very worried that she wouldn’t like it, so picture my surprise when on day 2 she finally ate it! I think this food definitely helped her get adjusted to her American life a little faster. When I adopted her, the shelter recommended this brand and it DEFINITELY isn’t cheap in France either! So I knew that it’s a good brand and I’m glad it’s available on Chewy … more

surprisingly disappointing
By connie on Dec 22, 2020
I don't often buy this brand in wet food but i have trusted the dry , especially" baby cat" for years when doing rescue. I bought a large can of the instinctive pate and my three cats ate it, so I decided to try this because it was available in a small case size and is not in my stores. Sadly, none of my cats will eat more than a nibble. Rather than throwing it down the drain, I fed the birds and squirrels. I will just donate the rest to my rescue group ( or keep a can in the car for stray sightings) They did eat the "digest" sensitive tummy, which i fed with fingers crossed! I gave it 3 stars because of the size of the bits -tiny for older or very young cats and good nutrition. My cats loved this food
By Laurie on Feb 9, 2021
My cats are Fancy Feast fanatics but they loved this food. I wanted to try to get them interested in a little bit better (I think) quality food and I am happy that they like it.

Received Less Than Enthusiastically
By Sondra on Dec 1, 2020
My cats can be picky eaters. One of my elderly females seemed as though she enjoyed RC's kitten food. This made her gain weight very quickly, so I bought the adult version. I was both surprised and disappointed that she really wasn't crazy about it- neither were my other 4 cats. It was consumed last, due to hunger with no apparent enthusiasm.
