The recommended feeding amounts indicated are based upon the average nutritional needs of an adult dog with normal activity. Factors, such as a dog's metabolism, breed size, activity level, age and whether the dog is spayed or neutered, will affect the amount of Purina ONE needed to maintain an ideal body condition. If you find that your dog is losing weight or becomes overweight when fed these amounts, please adjust accordingly. To help your dog maintain an ideal body condition, monitor your dog's weight on a regular basis, making sure that his ribs are easily felt and the waist is visible when viewed from above.
Puppies: Start puppies on moistened Purina ONE as early as they will nibble at solid foods, generally 3-4 weeks of age. Feed pups (to six months of age) all of the moistened or dry Purina ONE they will consume at intervals throughout the day. If water is added, use no more than one part warm (not hot) liquid to four parts Purina ONE, changing frequently to ensure freshness. If fed dry, this formula may be kept before pups at all times.
Reproduction: Purina ONE provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's good body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.
Transition Instructions
Please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from his current food and a little more Purina ONE until you're feeding Purina ONE exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

Can you feed this to 4 month old puppies?
Answer by • Aug 01, 2022
This recipe is not formulated to meet the nutritional needs of growing puppies. It should be fed to adult dogs only. A puppy is generally considered an adult when they stop growing taller. Typically for small breeds this is between 9-12 months, medium breeds around 12 months and large breeds closer to 15 months.
What is the percentage of fiber is in this dog food?
My little guy loves Purina One Lamb and Rice. This was actually recommended by Vet because my dog is a mixed breed (Pug and Labrador). Even though he is relatively small he still has the energy of the larger part of his breed. It's easy for him to digest and apparently he absolutely loves the taste. He's a rescue dog and he is my emotional support pet, so I will only give him the best and Purina One is the BEST. Even though it's a SLIGHTLY higher priced that some other brands, I was happy my Daughter-in-law got a coupon from Chewy and I was able to buy a very LARGE bag that will surely last. Thank you for helping to keep my FurBaby healthy, fit and happy.

Picky eater
My dog is a picky eater. I have been trying for years to get her to eat like a normal dog. I have tried chicken, hamburger, add ins.. soft food, EVERYTHING to no avail. Sometimes she'll eat her hard food if I put something on it... but 2 days later she doesn't want it again. She got kennel cough from daycare. Had to take meds w food. But trying to get her to eat is a chore. I was literally down to freeze dried burgers and milkbones. Until, I told my boyfriend to pick up some blue buffalo lamb and rice (she used to eat that occasionally, after I mixed it w cat food or whatever).. my boyfriend mistakenly picked up purina one lamb and rice... I thought for sure she'd push it away but dang if she didn't eat the whole bowl.. it's been 7 days and everyday she finishes her dinner. Seriously, if you have a picky dog.. try this.. it worked for us.. at least for 7 days.. wish me luck that it continues.

Made my dog sick
This is my second bag of the lamb. The first bag, I have never seen my dog love a food so much. I reordered early so we didn't get low. Just opened the other day and he refused to eat it. Before he was happy eating other bag, playing and going on walks. Finally got him to eat some food from this new bag and he puking. After reading reviews, I see others who have experienced their dogs getting sick recently.

Ehh
Got this as a third choice after our usual dog food started making our dogs sick. They'll nibble it but don't really care for it. Mine are Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, and terrier mix. Grandson's Black Lab. Aussie and Lab will literally eat anything in front of them but not this. Guess I'll be trying something else.

Lamb Food
Lamb dog food no matter what brand it is,is the best meat you can give to your companion, the people that are complaining I guarantee are not gradually mixing the two bags of food slowly together,I breed dogs all my life and lamb is the best way to go with no fillers no wheat no corn no soy fillers are all parts of an animal so you need to read the bag. It will help you stay out of the vet office

Dogs are sick!
Been feeding my dogs this food for several months. One died on Monday and one has been at vet all day. Unaware of any other cause to their sudden illness than the possibility of food. Called to see if there were any recalls and one review says formula recently changed. Vet bill for treatment so far is $765. Be cautious on this and other foods. It was on the safe list from our vet but not sure it is safe to use

Hardly any shreds
I purchased this food because Proplan suspended production of the small breed lamb and rice with shreds. My Shih tzu who is picky loves the shreds, and the bag hardly has shreds. When I gave him a half a cup, there was only 1 tiny shred. I am wondering if an issue with this batch!

Thank you
More than my personal experience, Chewy deserves multiple thank you's for 30 plus tons of food, litter, etc., given to the Fort Wayne (IN) Pet Food Pantry a couple of weeks ago. This is clearly a company that cares about our communities and its pets. Thank you.

Making our dog sick
We've bought this food a few times, since we've had the last bag dog has been licking his paws like crazy , and more recently-throwing up. A neighbor mentioned their dog had to be switched to a new food due to the same issues, the food causing the problems was the same purina. Since we stopped using it all licking and tummy issues stopped immediately! Bummer that we still have 30 lbs of it left and can't in good conscious, donate it.
