Real Mushrooms offers a variety of options for your pet to make administration easy. The dosage will be listed on the side of the bottle/package. Soft chews can be given as treats, and most pets love their taste. They have a tasty flavor that your pet should love.

The mushroom powders can be mixed into pet food. If feeding dry food, you can add some mushroom powder & water to make a “gravy”. You have a variety of options with capsules. You can open the capsules and sprinkle them on your pets’ food. You can also hide the capsule in a pill pocket or other tasty treat (cheese, small amount of butter, meatball, etc).

If your pet still won’t take the capsule, powder, or chew, consider talking to your DVM about how to best administer these mushroom products to your pet.

Since mushrooms are “functional” foods, they can be given with or without food. You may find that for the capsules and powder forms of the mushroom products giving with some food, or with meals is much easier and convenient and in the long run, over time, will ensure that your pet gets the mushrooms daily, which is most likely to ensure a healthy response. 5 Defenders is a blend of extracts of Reishi, Shiitake, Maitake, Turkey Tail mushrooms and Chaga. It is an immune-supportive blend- you can think of it as a mushroom multi-vitamin.

Here is the breakdown of our 5 defenders blend:

= 300 mg of total mushroom extract per serving (1 capsules )

Our capsules are the traditional format for supplements. Many animals will accept capsules just mixed with some tasty food, maybe stuffed into a section of hot dog, liverwurst, or coated with their favorite wet food, low-fat cream cheese, raw ground beef, peanut butter (xylitol free!) or other sticky, tasty foods.

You could also look into pill pockets to help hide the capsule.

They can be administered directly into the mouth, followed by a treat, which forces your dog to swallow the capsule to get the treat. For some dogs that is not a problem. For others, it's an impossible dream. Giving a treat after giving a capsule in a pill or wrapped in some food will also force your dog to swallow the treat with the capsule in order to get the next treat.

Soft chews are ultimately the tastiest option. Most soft chews are so tasty there is rarely a problem with acceptance by dogs, but there can be exceptions to that rule.

Most dogs will eat soft chews readily. But, if they are reluctant, you can crumble our chews and blend them in with some tasty wet food that your dog loves, and that may work.

Using less of the chew at first when blending it into some tasty food may work better if your dog won’t accept the entire soft chew crumbled into the food.
