About Zignature Dog Food

Learning From Nature

Learning From Nature

Zignature took all of nature's best ingredients and added key nutrients to create a dog food with complete nutrition. In these Physiologically Tuned formulas, meat always comes first, and they've eliminated common allergy-inducing proteins and fillers that are hard to digest. These grain- and gluten-free recipes feature premium proteins, low glycemic carb sources and a limited number of ingredients. It's exactly what your pup should be eating—nothing more, and nothing less.

Meat-First Philosophy

The first ingredient in any list is the most important, because it tells you what the majority of the food is made of. Some commercial pet foods take the easy way out with high-starch carbs near the top of the list. In each of Zignature's dry foods, meat not only comes first, but also second. A quality animal protein source starts off the recipe, followed by a meat or fish meal for an extra helping of the amino acids your pet needs and the flavor he craves.

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

All of Zignature's formulas are free of the most common canine allergen—chicken. And that includes chicken eggs, meal and by-products. As hypoallergenic foods, both wet and dry formulas also avoid the usual sources of stomach upset, including gluten, grains, corn, wheat, soy and dairy. Zignature never uses binding agents that are full of simple carbs and starches; instead, these recipes have low glycemic legumes that deliver extra protein and fiber.

Simple Is Best

Zignature isn't just the diet nature intended—it's even better. They've improved on nature's recipe to give your pup the right amount of each nutrient, and they've done it with the fewest possible ingredients. Just like meals in the wild, these recipes are limited in content for easy digestion and less chance of food sensitivities. These limited ingredient diets have single protein sources, so they're easy to rotate to give your dog a taste of something new.

Simple Is Best
Only the Best Ingredients

Only the Best Ingredients

To create these nourishing dishes, Zignature gathered the best possible ingredients from trusted sources around the world. Trout, salmon and whitefish all come from the Pacific waters of the Northwest; turkey is raised in the Midwest; duck comes from farms in Western France; kangaroo is brought over from Australia; and venison and lamb are delivered from New Zealand farmlands. Healthy fruits and veggies are harvested from several North American farms based on the season.

Ingredients

Zignature makes nutritious formulas with no artificial flavors, preservatives or colors.

CHICKPEAS: Low-glycemic legumes that promote stable blood sugar and provide an excellent source of dietary fiber, extra protein and copper.

FLAXSEED: Derived from whole, ground seeds of the Flax plant for an outstanding offering of omega-3 fatty acids for coat health, plus soluble fiber for digestion.

ALFALFA MEAL: A natural grass that's rich in vitamins A and C, niacin and calcium, and it also makes a great source of protein and fiber.

SUNFLOWER OIL: Pressed from sunflower oil, it supplies the omega-6 essential fatty acids that your pet needs to maintain skin and coat health.

  • Limited Diet savior!

My #1 pup Sadie has severe allergies to corn and grains. We were forced to put her on ZD which was up to $90 every 6 weeks to feed her. Since we didn't want two separate foods for our other 2 dogs, this was getting to be an expensive habit. At a pet fair, I met with a local pet shop owner who raved about Zignature Duck formula be because it was still protein packed but limited diet structured to help with special cases like my sweet Sadie's allergies. She luckily offered a sample pack. We tried it with Sadie and she LOVED it...it was like a snack for her....and NO allergic reaction!! Best solution to our problem and my dogs (all 3!!!) LOVE this formula. Wouldn't change a thing. … more

  • Zignature Duck Limited Ingredient Formula Grain-Free Dry Dog Food

    By on

So far my mini schnauzer is eating this dog food okay. I had previously bought the pork flavor. She quit eating it. So I decided to try this Duck flavor. So far, so good. I'll write an update if she changes her mind. She has had an itchy skin problem for the past few years, and that has not gotten better with the Zignature brand dog foods. That would have just been a plus. I feel like this is a quality dog food, so hope she continues to like it! I would recommend this dog food, but also recommend starting with a small bag first to be sure your dog likes it first. I have a lot of the pork flavor that is going to go to waste!

  • My 3 dogs love it

    By on

I've been feeding this food for 3 weeks now and have seen nothing but enthusiasm from my dogs. I bought it for needed limited ingredient reasons for satiation & weight reduction claim (I thought maybe due to no potatoes or rice). Some satiation improvement, but I haven't seen any weight-loss results yet. The most significant change is more and larger poop & a new small problem with "gas" in 1 dog, thus 4 stars. Bag is half empty so hoping for some weight-loss by end of bag. Otherwise, I will go back to Nutro Limited Ingredient for the reduction of the poop factor alone.

  • Finally found a food she loves and I love too!

Annie my 2 year old, 12-lb Rat Terrier, is a picky eater and is prone to allergies. Rat Terriers have short coats and much skin exposed. After much trial and error, tears and Annie going on hunger strike several times. She is allergic to Chicken and Beef/Bison. I choose to avoid grains, fillers, by-products and nightshade (potatoes). She looks almost offended if I serve her anything Fish based. I have found out recently she LOVES rabbit and duck. This kind of makes sense to me as I realized it's probably the type of prey she would instinctually go after. Her poops are firm and small sized for the amount she eats (which means her body is absorbing as much as it can from this food.) I am happy with the ingredients, she scarfs it down which I have NEVER seen her do before! … more

  • Her FAVORITE! and MINE too!!

My Corgi/Ruby Spaniel Mix LOVES this Duck flavor-- she has been on the Zignature Whitefish and I mix the Duck with it for a little extra flavor in the cooler weather. SHE LOVES the DUCK so much, and her coat is so shiny and thick, I may decide to give her just the duck for wintertime. It's a great brand, NEVER a RECALL & delicious and healthy. What more could you want??

  • Love this dog food

My silky had some digestive issues so we switched her food 3 x and finally landed on this one. She’s now been on it for going on 5 years (she’s 8 now). The individual grains are small enough for her to chew (she’s 10lbs) and the food is made with real ingredients (which every pet parents likes ;)

  • Potato-Free, High Quality Dog Food

    By on

Having been a Fromm devotee for several years, I researched a potato-free dog food and found Zignature. The dogs love the food, the kibble is medium-size which is great for large breeds. Price-wise, Zignature is on the higher end of premium dog food, but in my opinion, worth it.

  • Great food

    By on

Well California in all it’s wisdom has mad the kangaroo formula illegal so we had to switch protein last minute. My dog has horrible allergies, but this has been a great substitute. She finishes her bowl quickly and seems to love the new food. No skin issues so far.

I have a tan and brown dachshund with severe allergies to fish. I've tried almost every high quality food and his skin was just getting worst every time. He would loose patches of fur all over his body and his tail was going bald. This food line on the other hand conpletely turned his allergies around after only a week and he's been on it for almost 2 months now with his coat looking shiny and feeling extremely soft. I switch proteins every time I have to buy a new bag, so far lamb and duck. There are many flavors to choose from too! I can't say enough good things about this dog food company! • Great all around Food

    By on

I have three dogs all ranging from 2-14 years who all were on different foods. My Senior was losing weight, my pit bull lab mix was having a dry coat and my Pyrenees had loose stool. We put all three on Zignature (we mixed one bag lamb, one duck) and they have completely turned around. My senior has more energy, pit bulls coat is shiny and sleek and my Pyrenees is full of energy.
