Description

Canine osteoarthritis (OA) is both a common and chronic condition that many dogs are diagnosed with. Rimadyl is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory prescription medication (NSAID) used to help relieve the pain and inflammation associated with OA, joint abnormalities, and can also help relieve pain from surgery. Over 26 million dogs have been treated with Rimadyl, making it one of the most trusted NSAID prescribed by vets. By giving your dog one or two tasty, liver-flavored chewable tablets a day, you can help manage his pain and inflammation, so he can stay active and continue his daily dog duties.

Uses

Rimadyl is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs.

Possible Side Effects

Contact your veterinarian if your pet is experiencing bloody, black or tarry stools as this could be an indication of a more serious problem.

Drug & Food Interactions

If your pet is being given aspirin or another NSAID or any an over-the-counter cough, allergy, or pain medication, or any steroid drug, be sure to discuss the possible interactions with your veterinarian. Other drugs not listed may also cause reactions. Discuss all prescribed and over-the-counter medications your pet is taking with your vet.

Precautions

Before taking Rimadyl, discuss with your veterinarian if your pet has an allergy to aspirin, any other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), or is lactating or pregnant. Your veterinarian should also be notified if your dog has an ulcer or bleeding in the stomach, liver or kidney disease, congestive heart failure, fluid retention, bleeding disorders, heart disease, or high blood pressure.

Also available in caplets.

FAQ

What Is Rimadyl?

Rimadyl is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) approved by the FDA for once- or twice-daily dosing to relieve the pain and inflammation in the joints of dogs with arthritis.

Did You Know?

  • 20% of dogs over 1 year of age in the United States are believed to be suffering from osteoarthritis. However, many dogs with this disease remain undiagnosed and never get the treatment they need.
  • Human arthritis medications like aspirin can be toxic to your dog. Dogs should not be given aspirin because it can potentially harm joint cartilage and the structure of healthy joints. Aspirin can also cause gastrointestinal (GI) and kidney problems.
  • Osteoarthritis can be treated but cannot be cured — that’s why it’s important for you to continue to treat your dog’s arthritis even if he or she seems better. As the disease progresses, there can be additional destruction of cartilage and damage to other parts of the joint, as well as production of extra bone around the joint.
  • Long-term treatment provides continuous improvement in your dog’s arthritis pain and mobility, allowing your dog to continue participating in and enjoying the family activities you love to do together.

There was no problem with ordering them and they're just like what the Vet gave me. Even have the little groove in the middle to break them in half. Good stuff

  • Improving mobility

Our vet prescribed these for our 12+ year old German Shepherd who is having hip issues. After starting them, she is able to get up and down easier and is walking better. She seems to be more comfortable. Time will tell if there will be any further improvement, but we will continue trying this for a couple of months.

My older dog Annie was diagnosed with arthritis and the vet put her on these chewable pills and they seem to be working really well. This is her second bottle so we'll see. Chewy was fantastic filling these for me and calling the vet.

My dog is 13 years old and has severe arthritis in his back legs. This product has helped him immensely. When he doesn’t take it, he can’t go up the 3 steps to our house. When he takes it, he can.
