How Nutrition Can Help

What’s the difference between renal T,D, and E
Answer by ChewyAug 01, 2019
Royal Canin's Renal Support recipes are designed to appeal to the different taste preferences pets can have. The dry recipes are A, F, and S. A is for Aromatic and is formulated to have a stronger scent in a round kibble. F is for Flavorful and is a triangular kibble with enhanced flavor. S is for Savory and i s a square kibble offering a more varied flavor profile. The canned recipes are T, D, and E. T is for Tasty and is a slices in gravy option with multiple flavor profiles. D is for Delectable and is formulated as morsels in gravy, similar to the Renal Support T. E is for Enticing and is a pate texture canned recipe with chicken and pork flavors.

How many cans are in a case?
Answer by ChewyFeb 28, 2019
This food is available in a case of 24 cans.

What is the shelf life of a can if kept closed? Also what is the shelf life once it is opened? And I assume you need to refrigerate the open can...
Answer by ChewySep 02, 2020
Every expiration date will be different for each case, as different batches are constantly being produced. The expiration date will be printed on the food. Cover and refrigerate any unused portion.

What is the difference in texture of the pate and loaf
Answer by ChewyJul 20, 2018
Loaf refers to how the food looks and is served (most times sliced), while pate refers to the texture. The Royal Canin foods labeled loaf are still pate, but just use loaf as a descriptor.

Consistency and GI issues

I bought this version after consistently buying the E version, which has varied greatly in consistency. But bought this T version because all reviews said how soft it was, sometimes too soft, and my renal insufficient dogs need and like soft. This was harder in the can than the E version. And they’ve had diarrhea since I timidly started integrating it. Will not purchase again.

My dog likes this food.

This is a tasty pate. I had water to it to make a soupy mixture because my dog can't find the water bowl anymore (no sight, hearing and trouble smelling). I do have to add a bit of an especially tasty topper to get him started eating.

Old Man Loved it

My dog didn't used to be a picky eater an then all of a sudden two years ago he just up and decided he was a picky eater. After a few weeks of trying to find something that he'd eat that was going to help with his kidney diseases I finally got this and he loved it. When it was on back order I did try the enticing one, but Gizmo was not as big of a fan. Unfortunately, I had to put my dog down about a week ago (he was almost 17) because his mind just wasn't all there anymore. But if you have a picky dog who needs renal support this is the brand to go with. He was previously on the dry KD Renal diet when he decided he just didn't like it anymore after a year of eating it. But I will tell you I literally tied everything, bought several different dog food brands and food and this was the only thing he'd eat.

Very good choice

This was a good choice for my small dog recently diagnosed with beginning kidney disease. She did not like 'D' formula because it seemed the slices were difficult for her to pick up to eat. We're happy we made this switch. I do wish all these companies would stop using carrageenan since it's so controversial but they probably never will.
