I ordered this thinking it was purely potato and whitefish while trying to transition my GSD back to a full PW diet. He has severe allergies. Upon review of the ingredients I learned this formula contains chicken fat. I have now ordered the Large Breed PW which is the formula he has been on the past. Otherwise no complaints. Royal Canin is a quality brand of dog food.

The ingredients are garbage.

Potato is the first ingredient. Then comes fish meal . Not even fish. Highly unnutricious food for my dog.

Luna's coat is more shiny now.

Luna's coat was dull before and she frequently had diarrhea. Not sure I love the ingredients... but her dermatologist recommended it.

My dog LOVES this food formula.

My dog has severe allergies and this is the one food that could make her have normal stools again and stop losing patches of hair. So thankful for this brand!!!

Beware - Has chicken fat

I bought this for my dog who has food allergies. We accidentally started him on the moderate version, which he responded to very well but couldn't gain Weight.

I bought this for my dog who has food allergies. We accidentally started him on the moderate version, which he responded to very well but couldn't gain Weight. So that's when I switched him to this version because it had more calories. He reverted back to throwing up and loose stools immediately and I couldn't figure out why. It kept bugging me so I reread the ingredients and that's when I saw it had chicken fat!!!! See here: Potato, Fish Meal, Potato Protein, Chicken Fat So, if you have a dog with a potential chicken allergy steer clear of this version. The moderate version and large breed version of the royal canin potato + whitefish do NOT have any chicken. Very frustrating that RC changed the formulation for this version especially when 1) this is a top of the line veterinary diet being prescribed for dogs with GI/Food allergens and 2) chicken is known to be a common allergen in dogs! Stick to what the label says! Other than that my pup enjoys the flavor. The moderate version has a stronger fish smell out the bag, this one less so.

First of all this food has been a lifesaver for my IBD dog. My review is not for the food but for the quality control of the Chewy Warehouse. I have been told my shipment is coming from an automatic warehouse. Since August 2024, I have had 4/6 bags come with holes in the bag, exposing the food. For a prescription dog food, or any dog food, this is unacceptable and can place the food at risk of contamination or spoilage. Please fix this Chewy. I was ordering until August 2024 without any issues and am wondering if maybe that's when the warehouse became automatic.
