Any idea when this will be available again?

So I went online (not through the app) and they have different size bag options there. I was able to order it that way. Hope this helps.

What is a good alternative to buy while this is out of stock?

Answer by CatmomMar 22, 2023
The Hills Science Diet ZD formula works well enough for my cat with food allergies. However I just found out through a blood test the vet ran, she is also allergic to to dust mites and “storage mites,” the latter are apparently in all dry pet foods! I was advised to freeze her dry food to kill the storage mites before feeding it to her. (Obviously freeze in small amounts, using a ziplock bag or other airtight container.) Vet also recommended a trial with this Ultamino version. Not sure how storage mites wouldn’t get into this food too(?) If this does work I may be able to get her off the expensive med she is on currently. I also cannot believe the price difference between the cat and dog versions of this food. Cats are smaller and eat less, so that’s the reasoning for charging more for cat food?

What are the carbohydrates %s as fed and as a dry matter basis?

I have one cat who has been prescribed this food. Is it safe for my other cat who has no issues? He is male and I worry. Unfortunately they have grown up eating with each other and it's extremely difficult feeding them separately. Thank you!

Answer by ChewyMay 28, 2019
As this is a prescription food formulated to meet specific diet restrictions from known health issues, this food should not be fed to any other animal than the one prescribed due to the restriction of specific nutrients. Prescription diets can be detrimental to an otherwise healthy pet if that pet doesn't have the ailment for which the food is designed.

We are trying to identify if our cat has a food allergy and ordered this prescription food our vet recommended. The cat absolutely refused to eat the kibble, even after a couple days. We opened the bag, poured it in a bowl, she smelled it and walked away. Hope it works for you if you try it. We did hear good things about the brand and Chewy was fantastic in getting the Rx from our vet loaded and the food delivered quickly. No complaints about Chewy’s fulfillment, we only wished our cat would eat it.

My poor cat buttercup was reluctant at first to eat this food but topped with some hydra care by Purina pro plan She has stopped scratching at herself and ripping her neck open in the process because of the itchiness she receives from most other food she eats at this moment. This is what my vet recommended to try to do allergy testing to see what she might be allergic to for food. We're still in the process of finding out what she reacts to but so far she's been on it for a week and she is healing up nicely from all the scratch marks and rashes.

Unhelpful, but not the food's fault

Our cat's dermatologist (ridiculous, I know) recommended this food to rule out food sensitivities. It hasn't led to an improvement in his ear problems, but I guess that just means we can rule out an allergy now. To me, the food smells super good, like roasted chicken. Unfortunately, it is the only food to-date that Theo flat out refused to eat for several days. He finally gave in and eats enough to survive, but I look forwards to being given the okay to go back to his regular Pure Vita limited ingredient food.

Vet Recommended Food

It was the perfect size kibble for her. Because she can be a little picky about food, I was concerned that she may not like it, but so far she hadn’t rejected it

My cat wouldn't eat it.

Unfortunately, my cat wouldn't eat it. He took a sniff and walked away every time I tried to feed it to him.
