My 16yo cat has always been petite, but she started losing weight consistently in the last year or two. I've tried different foods, and her vet ran various blood tests to find anything definitive to explain her weight loss, but to be avail. (At her heaviest, Peanut was about 10.5lbs and weighed in at just over 7lbs when I got the prescription for this food.) Before Ultamino, I could feel Peanut's ribs and hips when I pet her, she had very low energy and slept all the time, her poops were very dark and horribly smelly, and she threw up a LOT (I'm talking daily). Just one month of being on Ultamino, she put on weight (she attacked this food from the word go, and has a voracious appetite now!), I can barely smell after she uses the litter box, the vomiting has almost completely ceased, she's venturing all over the apartment, she'll bring me toys so we can play, and she just seems so much more confident and happy. I used to worry about my cat's health and longevity, but not anymore - she's acting like her 5yo self again. She means the world to me, and I'm thrilled to have her back. Highly recommend!
One of my boys, Finnegan, had an issue with chicken as a kitten. I fed fish-based food for a couple years when he started reacting to that as well and I wasn't able to get him back to baseline 💩. After testing, we discovered Finn has IBD and food sensitivities and my vet recommended a trial of hydrolyzed food. After a few months on Ultamino, his poop is purrfect (that was actually a quick change), he's gained weight and he's a much happier, sweeter cat. I do wish there was a canned version to aid in hydration, but I give him watered down pumpkin puree at mealtimes to help with that. I did try soaking the kibble in hot water - he wasn't thrilled. This food is pricey, but worth every penny to have my boy healthy and feeling great again!
Great food & My cat aka Doodle has done very well on it. The problem is she's allergic to a lot of different ingredients so this food is a must. Since the pandemic it's hardly ever in stock. I have autoship so I never run out of her food but even with that they never have it. I had to shop around to find it somewhere else. Food is awesome but Chewy not so much on this product!!
Our kitty was having digestive problems and our vet prescribed the Royal Canin Ultamino cat food. After a week of eating this food our kitty showed significant improvement in his health.
Unfortunately my cat won't eat this product. I was hopeful about it but he wouldn't even touch it.
Our cat started having food allergies when she was about 9 years old, with frequent diarrhea that became alarming when there was blood in it. The vet ran all the tests and suggested that we try hydrolized protein diet as a food trial. What a relief to find Ultamino! Our cat was miffed that we didn’t give her any more Fancy Feast or Science Diet, but gradually accepted this kibble. Her poops are generally solid now, occasionally softer when life gets stressful, like the plumber visiting or a thunder storm. Ultamino is a great solution for our cat’s IBD — though I’m learning to order extra because it’s too often Out of Stock! That’s the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. She also had dandruff, which cleared up nicely after a few months on this food.
I've tried every other high-quality brand and even the Royal Canin Hydrolized Protein, and this food is the ONLY thing that works for my cat with severe food allergies. Her allergies mainly manifest with severe skin itching, to the point that she licks herself raw and has sore patches all over herself. Some diarrhea also. When this comes back in stock, I buy multiple bags so that she never runs out. It's expensive but definitely worth it!!!
This food is literally the only thing my "Patootie" can eat. And that's not hyperbolic... it's the truth, plain and simple. What's scary is, when this food is out of stock, Patootie's health goes into decline. I wish there wasn't such a dependency; but he suffered for years, with HORRIBLE "inflammatory bowel disease", before figuring out the cause of it. Once we found Ultamino, it was clear it was THE cure to his ailments. We even tried Royal Canin's "Hydrolyzed Protein" (which is a step below the Ultamino), as we have other kitties who respond well to that; however, Patootie showed only a tad of improvement on the HP. If you're lucky enough to grab this, whenever it's in stock, then good for you! I was finally able to do so, and I'm SUPER relieved! My little guy gets instant relief from the severe food-intolerance, by which he's plagued, that reeks havoc upon his lower-gastrointestinal system. It's AWFUL trying to remedy his symptoms, to no avail, when we know he just needs his Ultamino. I know there are plenty of other folks, who are going through this same frustration, worrying while knowing their feline friend is suffering. I hope all this insanity ends soon and the world gets its normalcy returned. I'm hoping for the best!
At first I thought the smell was not the best, but the bottom line is that she loves the taste. So be it.
Your A+++ customer service department is outstanding. Appreciated all the quick responses to my questions. Other companies could learn from them as to how customers should be treated. Keep up the good work!
