One of our cats has kidney issues and doesn't always have an appetite, especially for her kidney-specific diet. We sprinkle this on top and she suddenly is ready to eat up her whole dish with gusto. Sometimes she's low-energy and doesn't seem at all interested in eating but when she even sees the bag come out, she gets up and readies herself to enjoy her dinner. Two of the other cats started wanting to eat her food so we now give them a sprinkle of this stuff as well. For whatever reason our fourth cat doesn't enjoy it but that's actually good because he has a big appetite and would eat everyone else's food if we weren't sprinkling it, so in that case it has a useful deterrent effect! (We give him a bit of nutritional yeast instead so he doesn't feel left out of the garnishing situation.)
This stuff is indeed magical! I use it as a topper to tempt and encourage my two extremely picky cats to eat the food underneath. Works great most of the time. Really like the high quality ingredients as well.
My cats have demanded this product for 2 or 3 yrs now. I've been trying to wean them. Yes I've said it 1000x they own me. I have to scoop food into a pile so their faces stay clean(?). When I scoop they stare at me as if saying you know what's next! Eating just fine but to finish they want this. I keep it in a small container. Of course they know it & will stare from me to it. They put on a show for it.
First time buyer and it is a hit with my male feline companion
Usually this product is light tan colored and I got a bag that is dark brown and my cats won’t go near it. I contacted Stella and they said that product varies but agreed that mine look to have too many variations. I find it concerning because I think quality cat food should be consistently the same. Also now I am without product and usually it helps my cats eat their wet food.
I bought this more as a treat than as a supplement, because sometimes my three kiddos get fussy about having to eat the same thing every night (they have sensitive bellies and I can't change their food). It makes them love dinner! They swarm me even as I open this bag trying to lick the opening. The old adults love it too and it encourages my oldest to eat more which is good because she's almost 14.
I have a CKD cat that I was hoping this would help entice him to eat more, but no go. My other cat isn’t crazy about it either and he’s got a very healthy appetite (almost too healthy!) I love Stella & Chewy’s, so I was happy giving this a shot. I may try it again in a shaker bottle, like someone else said they did. The packaging is hard to use the dust from; I put some in a bowl and used a spoon to sprinkle. My finicky boys aren’t fans, but it’s worth a shot for other kitties.
I bought this for my 19 yo cat to make sure she eats all the food I put down for her. And she does love it. Unfortunately, so do the rest of the cats and the dogs. So everyone gets sprinkles of the dust. To make sure I don't give too many sprinkles, I put it in a shaker bottle with larger holes.
I have a cat with kidney issues and am trying to find something to make his new kidney diet wet food more palatable. Magical Dinner Dust sounds appealing but my cat will not go near it. This product is quite expensive and not a good value for my cat.
I was hoping this would encourage my senior cat to eat more wet food- he has has CKD and is slowly losing his teeth to feline tooth resorption, but he strongly prefers kibble. He'll usually eat a tablespoon or so of wet food at a time, but he didn't care for this food topper at all and wouldn't touch any of his wet food with it on. I tried offering it a few times with varying amounts of the topper, but he refused it every time. My various non-picky eaters (two dogs and another cat) were more than happy to eat it, though.
