Transition Instructions

When it comes to transitioning to any food, a slow transition over 7-10 days is recommended; it is the same case when transitioning to our food too. To start, we recommend mixing the new food in with what you're currently feeding and slowly building up until the new food is the sole food that you're feeding/that your dog is enjoying. Even if your dog isn't eating their current diet, it's important to start off small with new food and introduce it slowly, as sudden changes to diet can cause digestive issues.

The 21lb bag contains less freeze-dried raw

By Maya on Sep 29, 2021

I purchased the 3.5lb bag for my pup to try, and he liked it. Every cup of food would contain 4-5 raw kibbles in it. So I thought, buying 21 lbs, which is equivalent of 6 bags of 3.5-lb bag, I'd be almost saving $70! The 21-lb bag costs $88, whereas 6 smaller bags would cost $156. That sounds like a really good deal, isn't it? But I'd be darned. The 21-lb bag contains significantly smaller portion of freeze-dried raw, which is the good part. I'd be giving him two cups of food, and there would be no raw kibbles in it. This is such a misleading business practice. I feel I was baited into buying it. I wasn't saving anything, because let's face it, the pups like the freeze-dried part. And if I I purchased the 3.5lb bag for my pup to try, and he liked it. And if I want to get a big bag of overpriced kibbles, I can get it in my local pet store. Stella & Chewy, you have such good products, but don't let this ruin your reputation. Such a shame. … more

    Crack, but for Dogs!

    By lrv0402 on Aug 13, 2021

My 10-year old lab mix goes TOTALLY NUTS for this dog food! Now, you will be thinking, "what 10-year old lab wouldn't go nuts for any type of food?" A valid question. But this stuff: she get incredibly excited for and does a happy dance until she gets it. Drool everywhere. She only drools when table scraps are involved. My other 12-lb mix with broken teeth loves this, too. We have to mix it with the canned stuff from this brand to make it a bit softer, but he willingly eats it all. Before we'd have to do this odd growl dance every meal to get him to take one bite of anything else. Elderly rescues, amirite?!

Picky Eater Loves this Food - First Time Buyer

By Eskie on Jul 29, 2021

Thru trial and error I serve this food, w crumbled freeze-dried pieces and a little water to enhance flavor. First my dog just ate only freeze-dried chunks so I crumbled them. After 2 days she was less eager to eat so I added water. NOW SHE GOBBLES THE FOOD DOWN. Stella & Chewy's has excellent customer service and they have been very helpful with ideas and nutritional information.
