Will this work for a pressure sore on elbow, is it padded?
Answer by Chewy • Nov 02, 2022
The Recovery Sleeve can be used protecting a pressure sore but is not padded. If extra padding is needed you could use a pantyliner on the inside of the sleeve.

Should you or could you use ointment, gause and wrap bandage , over a sore, underneath the leg sleeve first? I'm desperate, I have tried everything out there, to prevent my dog's obsessive licking her sores on front lower leg.

Will this sleeve work for a rear leg as well?
Answer by Chewy • Mar 19, 2021
The recovery sleeve is designed for the front legs and not for the hind legs.

My dog's chest circumference is 29 - 31 inches which would indicate she would need the large size. however, the leg length for the large size is 13.8 inches and this is too long for my dog. her leg length seems to be closer to 10 inches. can the leg length be modified (cut)? Please advise.
Answer by Chewy • Feb 20, 2018
It is not recommended to cut the sleeve because it may fray. The sleeve may be folded or scrunched if needed.

So close, but not quite

For the first couple of days, we had high hopes that we had finally found something to work. We have tried spray, meds, and now this, but nothing keeps our dog from chewing up her leg. She chewed a hole right through the material.

post op surgical sleeve

Pretty happy with this post cancer tumor removed from Bear front leg. Used in combo or alternated with inflated pillow. The size was too big. We measured just as instructed but it was too big, needed to order another one size smaller. Able to wash as it became wet or mud splatter when taking him out. All in all happy with it. Bear is 17 days post op and we are still using to keep him from licking and possibly opening it. Plan to wash and donate the bigger one to shelter near me.

Very pleased with this product

This has helped our boy in his recovery from surgery. We had problems keeping a bandage on his leg. The sleeve is ideal for keeping the bandage in place and his incision covered. Ordered a second sleeve to have to be able to wash one and keep his leg covered.

Dog loves it!

Our mastiff recently had a tumor removed from his leg and the sleeve worked very well for keeping the wound clean and giving some protection. Rocky liked wearing his suitical and looked comfortable in it. The only comments I would have are that the sizing was a little off and so it is a little large for him, but it still worked well. The other comment would be if there were some sort of flexible insert to place in the sleeve for extra padding or an extra layer of better protection. But so much better than a knee sock and string!!! I would absolutely recommend this product. My dog looks at me funny when I remove it for laundering or to check the wound.

Good Sleeve allows air to healing area

We like this sleeve enough that we ordered another one so that one could be worn while the other was being washed and dried. Our dog is comfortable with it but he occasionally can push the sleeve up enough to uncover his healing wound. So far that hasn't been a problem because we often check his sleeve. A more persistent dog might chew through, but we like this better than the cone.

Finally found a way to keep bandage dog's elbow

This was perfect to keep him from licking his elbow wound and chewing at bandages. He hated the collar and I even got him one he could see through. He wouldn't eat or drink with it on. So I got this because I was changing bandages 3 X a day. I put this over the bandage and the healing process got better. He could eat drink walk but he could lick or pull the bandage off.

Suitical is fantastic

This product was a huge benefit for our doodle when she had surgery on her leg. Did not bother her at all, easy to put on and to clean! In fact, she seemed to enjoy having it on.

Do not recommend

I measured my pup and went one size up as recommended and it was still small. Also, the sleeve is literally just like a shirt sleeve material. It won't keep your dog from biting on stitches but it does prevent locking. I thought it would be made of something tougher.
