How do you get the top off so it can be charged?

To charge the laser pointer, twist the end cap counterclockwise to reveal the USB connector. Plug it into a USB port to charge. Once charged, twist the cap back on clockwise. If stuck, use a rubber grip but avoid force.

If you know that your cat likes chasing laser points/images, you might consider this laser pointer, though. The controls are easy to use, and it's great that it has an easy-to-recharge battery.

Different Fun Shapes to chase!

This has worked out very well, and I spend time with our cat and our kitten to help them get exercise. They love it. There's a Dot, a Star, a Fish, and a Butterfly

Nice laser. Rechargeable. Lasts a long time on a charge. Great shapes to add variety to the play. Only reason why we gave it 4 stars is that the on/off slider is hard to slide. It takes a fair amount of nail or finger strength. Otherwise we like it. And the cats would give it 5 stars for play.

I love this laser pointer, this is my 2nd one this far. The batteries don't die like in cheaper ones, and it's rechargable. And my finger doesn't hurt from having

I love this laser pointer, this is my 2nd one this far. The batteries don't die like in cheaper ones, and it's rechargable. And my finger doesn't hurt from having to constantly hold down the button. They don't really care much for the shapes. And the black light is super handy for ensuring I find any urine spots.
