Is there anything from China in this food?

Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2020
Taste of the Wild does use some ingredients that are not USA sourced, such as lamb from New Zealand, lamb meal and venison from Australia, duck meal from France, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. There are ingredients that are critical to their formulations (i.e. folic acid and taurine) that can only be sourced out of China.

What percentage of protein is animal products in this formula?

Answer by ChewyDec 14, 2020
The specific amount of animal protein is proprietary information for the manufacturer. As a general rule of thumb, the ingredients listed in the ingredient panel on the bag are listed in the order of predominance in the recipe. The first ingredient listed for this recipe is trout, so that will be the predominant protein.

What percentage of this food is carbs?

Answer by ChewyDec 14, 2020
The carbohydrate amounts are As fed 37.1% and Dry matter 40.5%.

We use Just Food for Dogs’ DIY ingredients and recipes for fresh food for a portion of our dogs’ food, but we definitely have to use kibble as well. My Aussie boy loves any grain-free TOTW kibble, but my new Giant Schnauzer girl is much more picky. She clearly prefers the limited ingredient recipes byTOTW over their less expensive recipes (but of course). =P She will start “singing” and just generally get all happy and energetic after a meal of this kibble. =) The limited ingredient beef recipe is another of her faves.

The single source protein.

Penny loves the taste of this food and it is now a part of her weight loss program. She has stopped eating several other foods but seems to enjoy this food.

I began fostering French and English bulldogs last year, many of which were strays or abandoned or dumped at the shelter. There was no history on them and they probably had been eating garbage off the street for awhile so their stool wasn't the healthiest. The rescue group used this food as their primary food for adults dogs explaining there was very little processing done. As a kibble (not always my first choice, I prefer raw for the dogs), I noticed every dog adapted to this food easily and quickly. Stools were firm with a day or two, no throwing up, no gas, no negatives that I could see. I liked it so much I switched my dog over to it. He gets a combo of wet and dry, too big to feed only raw. I would need a second job to afford it.

There’s no yeast & potato

It’s a very clean dog food with limited ingredients. My dog deals with yeast overgrowth & allergies. She is doing well & I see progress with her symptoms.

Our girl with allergies to every protein but trout & cod is doing great on this formula. It smells so good I’m sure it helps encourage consumption. I’ve started using Taste of the Wild for puppies too just for this reason. We are now recommending Taste of the Wild to others having problems with picky eaters

My dog had severe allergies and we switched to this food three years ago. He is a 7 year old lab and this week was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The vet cardiologist said it is because this food is grain-free. He is an athletic, healthy lab and the only thing that caused this severe condition was this food. Please save your beloved pet now and do not feed them this food. It might be too late for us.

Is less more??

I was looking for fewer ingredients for my dog's food. While I understand that Meal in and of itself call be beneficial, why so much in the food? Whole chicken maybe

I was looking for fewer ingredients for my dog's food. While I understand that Meal in and of itself call be beneficial, why so much in the food? Whole chicken maybe the 1st ingredient but 4 kinds of meal in the bag really means meal is the #1 ingredient right? Anyway... My dog followed this bag from the porch to the kitchen. She gobbled it up right away. It's easy to digest and she is actually eating less food because REAL ingredients are filling her belly. She's more energetic, happier and fuller for longer. So is less more? For us...yes!
