What are the specific lentils?
Answer by ChewyOct 16, 2020
Lentils is a legume that is new to pet food formulations. Legumes contain protein, fiber and carbohydrates and are nutritious ingredients for pet foods.

What is in the "NATURAL FLAVOR"? My furry friend is allergic to Pork, Lamb, Soybean, Rices, Oat, Kelp, and Sweet Potato.
Answer by ChewyJul 01, 2020
Natural flavor is a natural ingredient that is added to enhance the flavor and acceptance of the product. It can be from vegetable or chicken sources and does not contain MSG. Some examples are parsley or other herbs and hydrolyzed proteins, processed so the average molecular weight of the protein is too small to be detected by the immune system, which helps avoid adverse reactions in allergic pets. There is no intact protein from the chicken.

What is the calorie content of the three Prey dog food?
Answer by ChewySep 03, 2020

Answer by ChewyAug 01, 2020

Food is okay, but isn't reliable for repeat.

The food seems to go over well with both my dogs but it's constantly out of stock. I ended up having to buy the smaller bag that costs more due to lack of availability for over two weeks. I usually don't have this issue with Chewy, so I'll likely just switch to another dog food.

DO NOT FEED THIS TO YOUR DOG!

Our 3 year old dog was just diagnosed with congenital heart failure that is linked to a grain-free diet and this formula is the #4 reported food linked to heart failure in dogs by the FDA. I can’t believe it is still being sold and I had no idea. I am heart broken and so angry. Chewy, please stop selling this product. Our best boy has a 3-6 month prognosis and I am absolutely devastated. Please don’t let this happen to you.

pets like it

If my pets like it, its OK. Because they're fussy, if my pets like the food, its great.

Allergen Friendly

I did allergy testing on my dog to try and decrease his amount of allergy related infections and this food came up as one of the few kibbles my sensitive guy can eat. All of the other foods were over $90 for a 25lb bag, so I was very happy to find this food! My second dog is a picky eater and will sometimes skip meals, but she actually likes this stuff so much that she completely stopped eating the old stuff when I started transitioned her. She still skips meals sometimes, but she definitely likes this food a lot better. I just wish they sold this stuff at my local pet stores so I wouldn't have to order it.

Grain free food IS BAD FOR YOUR DOG

Grain free is so bad for your dog. It was recently linked to heart disease and other sickness. This food was the only thing that helped my dog with allergies but sadly I just learned grain free is bad for my baby :(

High Salt Content

I purchased Prey because I liked the ingredients especially that the first ingredient was beef. I took my german shepherd off Wellness Complete Health healthy weight for the summer months because he was more active so I bought Prey Angus beef because of the ingredients and higher fat content. He was drinking way too much water with the Prey so I called Taste of the Wild and found out the sodium content was .35% ! I called Wellness and their salt content for Complete Health Healthy weight was .13 so that means 'Prey' had about 3 times as much salt in it than Wellness. I threw the rest of 'Prey' Angus beef out and feeding him Wellness Complete Health now. He's doing much better on it and not drinking so much water! I wish manufacturers would list the salt content on their labels!!

He Can't Get Enough!

I gave my 96lb husky-shepherd mix just one bowl of this "PREY - Turkey" dry food and he was hooked. He literally demanded ANOTHER bowlful and then went back and licked the bowl several times. It is expensive, but it is quality, healthy with limited ingredients - and obviously it is very-well liked. I am going to use this as some variety in his weekly diet, interspersing with the Taste of the Wild - Pine Forest (venison) and some wet food (like Dave's Turkey).

Nope…not even with a yummy topping!

Taste of the Wild is the only food we feed our Pups for years. We switch between flavors that do not have Chicken because my older guy is allergic to anything mixed with Chicken. That said, Taste of the Wild has been great because they have a variety of kibble flavors that don’t have Chicken. This flavor I have not tried and it was a no go with both of my Doggies. They would not eat a bite even with Tuna mixed. I will say Chewy was fabulous and refunded the full price with ease and professionalism. For us, Yes to Taste of the Wild but a loud and absolute No to this particular flavor.
