What is in the "NATURAL FLAVOR"? My furry friend is allergic to Pork, Lamb, Soybean, Rices, Oat, Kelp, and Sweet Potato.
Answer by ChewyJul 01, 2020
Natural flavor is a natural ingredient that is added to enhance the flavor and acceptance of the product. It can be from vegetable or chicken sources and does not contain MSG. Some examples are parsley or other herbs and hydrolyzed proteins, processed so the average molecular weight of the protein is too small to be detected by the immune system, which helps avoid adverse reactions in allergic pets. There is no intact protein from the chicken.

He Can't Get Enough!

I gave my 96lb husky-shepherd mix just one bowl of this "PREY - Turkey" dry food and he was hooked. He literally demanded ANOTHER bowlful and then went back and licked the bowl several times. It is expensive, but it is quality, healthy with limited ingredients - and obviously it is very-well liked. I am going to use this as some variety in his weekly diet, interspersing with the Taste of the Wild - Pine Forest (venison) and some wet food (like Dave's Turkey).

Nope…not even with a yummy topping!

Taste of the Wild is the only food we feed our Pups for years. We switch between flavors that do not have Chicken because my older guy is allergic to anything mixed with Chicken. That said, Taste of the Wild has been great because they have a variety of kibble flavors that don’t have Chicken. This flavor I have not tried and it was a no go with both of my Doggies. They would not eat a bite even with Tuna mixed. I will say Chewy was fabulous and refunded the full price with ease and professionalism. For us, Yes to Taste of the Wild but a loud and absolute No to this particular flavor.

Need more Protein to increase the caloric content

My dog is allergic to everything and HA food just wasn't working for her so after a long search and reading over four hundred ingredients and packages this seems to work so far. My dogs have very high metabolism so I have to feed them twice the amount of food

Taste of the Wild

We have used Taste of the Wild food for several years. The food is not only approved by our vet, it’s approved by our two fur babies.

Not a winner

My pups have been on Taste of the Wild PREY for about a year and a half but always ate the fish flavor. I decided to give he turket flavor a shot; however, they were definitely not a fan. I mix it with frozen bites, which they love, and they still won't get close to the bowl until they're starving. Even so, they'll just nibble on the frozen bites and leave the turkey kibbles for even later. Will not purchase again. I'll stick to the fish flavor, it's just very stinky when I pour it, but apparently they love it.

3 Dogs - All love it

I have 3 dogs - 2 Shih-Tuz's and 1 Black Labs. All pure bred. They LOVE this food. I use it as a "treat" food. It's not their day to day as they are still puppies and require puppy food. All of my dogs are free fed, and do not overeat or go crazy when they eat. They also do not get into bags of food nor treat bags when left sitting out. When this bag of dog food came in, they smelled it right away! For the first time all 3 of them started pawing at the bag and did little whines. That is a testament to the ingredients of this food.

Best for sensitive stomach!

Our shih tzu has developed a sensitive tummy recently & our vet recommended a limited ingredient dog food. Taste of the Wild has a line of dog food called Prey. We tried the Turkey & Beef. Thank goodness she likes both! Her stomach is happy which makes us all happy! Very happy with Chewys customer service!

Great Food for allergy prone

I have two English Springers. One is 17 months old and one 6 months. The 17 month old went through a trying time of allergies, skin welts, itching and anal glad issues. I would research and try something different. I tried all the so called top brands recommended by vets. They all had by products or other ingredients I don’t want to feed my dogs. After months of tests I found this food and my allergic dog hasn’t had any skin issues since. It’s for all life stages so I have my new puppy on it as a well. They both love it and are thriving. I’m just shocked that the “top” brands for allergies contain by products and chicken. I know grain free/limited ingredient has a bad rep but it’s honestly the only thing that has worked for my dog.

Dog Won't Eat It

I should have gone with my gut and the other reviews about this food and just not bought this food. It is just dry, hard kibble. It stinks! My dog doesn't want to eat it. I have to put water and something else on it for her to eat it. I guess we will have this for a while. :/

Unhappy with service

no problem with the food, dogs love it! But their delivery service keeps going down hill. Place an order 2/26. First told delivery 3/4, then 3/2. Now today it says 3/5. Used to get very prompt delivery which was great, Now it takes 2 or 3 times as long. Don't know why, don't care.
