Boomerang Customer of TotW
When I first adopted Logan (20ish pound Pomsky) nearly 5 years ago, I had him on Taste of the Wild but one of their grain-free varieties. Eventually I swapped him to other grain-free brands because he got bored and then I realized (and vet concurred), he needed the grains (the good ones!). So for the past few months we've been trying to find good grains kibble that worked for him and for months he's had some varying degrees of diarrhea. I was ready to give up and go back to grain-free thinking maybe his stomach just wasn't jiving with the ancient grains stuff. But then we found Taste of the Wild, a non-grain-free variety, here on Chewy. I threw caution to the wind and bought the big boy bag...to make sure he'd have enough to transition...and BINGO. SOLID POOPS. AND HE CHOWS DOWN LIKE ITS A 5-STAR MICHELIN RESTAURANT!! Glad we came back to Taste of the Wild :)
Dogs love it
The Taste of the Wild family of kibble meet the dogs' nutritional needs, aren't grain free (which our vet says is harmful to Labs in the long term) and yet are not corn or soy based. Dogs seem to enjoy it a lot. I rotate between flavors without them having any digestive upset, so they get some variety. Heavy plastic bags are easier to empty than the usual paper/wax paper bags.
What I received is not what I thought I ordered. I wanted taste of the wild high prairie but could not find it on the website and thought taste of the wild changed their packaging. When I called customer service they were no help and confirmed that Chewy did not carry taste of the wild high prairie. Fortunately I looked again for high prairie and found it so I had to change my auto order which was fairly easy to do.
My sheltie loves this food
My sheltie's previous brand was Natural Balance (gentle balance former synergy). He was doing well with this diet until it became unavailable to us for some time. Chewy only had the 5lb bags available. I guess the company changed the look of the label. Anyway, my vet recommended against grain free; I decided to give TOW a chance as I read positive reviews about it, and the local feed store carries it as well (but only grain free). They also confirmed their customers are happy with this brand. We are now in week 3 of switching over and he is doing very well. I am happy to say poop looks healthier than before and there is a little bit less of it to clean up as well. I am thinking of switching the cat to this brand.
Product is good. Delivery service is great
We buy an assortment of flavors each time and I don't track it but my food eating machines (aka Louie the pug and Reuben the terrier/chihuahuah/pug) love it AND the speed of "regular' delivery is awesome!
Great flavor & 1 yr shelf life
We started buying TOTW when we adopted our poodle terrier. Vet said Poodles tend to have heart issue with grain free so we opted for ancient grains prairie this time & the dogs knew what was inside the package as soon as I brought it inside the house. I was happy to see the year expiration date, even though it won't last more than 6 months. To help keep poos a little firmer I blend a 5 lb bag of grain free TOTW Salmon to the 28lb bag of ancient grain & my dog loves the flavor. (The Salmon has a fishy smell but isn't over powering. Salmon helps with my dogs sensitive skin) This is the 1st time I've ordered dog food through Chewy & would totally recommend it. If you are new to TASTE OF THE WILD then take your time & and blend slowly to avoid tummy upset. I actually weighed the food to blend it to exactly 10%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 40%, 45% etc., giving 5 days on each milestone. My 9 year old dog doesn't like the blend ratio more of 25% to her grain free brand that she has eaten for more than 5 years. I believe in the health benefits of TOTW but want to keep her happy so we have 2 separate mixes/meals. If you are on the fence try a 5 lb bag first, that's what I did, but again that's when our puppy only weighed 4 lbs. Good luck!
Taste of the Wild
My little dog is 13 with not many teeth left. She loves this dog food, the pellets a small for her to eat. I usually add hot water and let it sit, so it is like a beef stew for her.
Taste of the Wild Ancient Prairie with Ancient Gra
My Xena who is a 1 yr old German Shepherd, loves this food. She eats it enthusiastically. She at a 5lbs bag with it being mixed in with her puppy food as she has just turned 1. We were looking for a great quality food to switch her to as she is aging off puppy food. This was quite popular with her! Will definitely order again! Anything she will eat is a plus for us!!
Not your ordinary dry kibble!
Since my dog was a puppy, we’ve had her on Taste of the Wild! She loves this stuff and I love knowing I’m giving her quality kibble! She is a healthy weight, has plenty of energy, and I’ve notice that her teeth look ALOT better than other dogs that eat lower quality brands. I will always recommend this brand :)
Not the normal Taste of Wild we order - our normal food it was out of stock. Gave this one a try and our Belgium accepted the change with half-hearted enthusiasm. Probably would not reorder.
