About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Ingredients for Better Health

The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.

TOMATOES AND TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.

BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.

RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

Limited ingredient Turkey

One of my cats has IBD, was trying to find a limited ingredient food that would work for her. So far Taste of the Wild Prey Turkey has been great. And all of our cats are liking this one, so I dare say I may be able to now have one dry food that they all like?

Ingredients are not correct

Purchased this food however the ingredients listed on the site are not whats on the actual package. I had to do a full return as I have an anaphylactic allergy to sunflowers. Something like that can put a person in danger if they dont have an epinephrine pen on them. Strongly recommend this brand discloses the correct ingredients on the package

Changed Recipe

This food used to be my cat’s favorite and one of the best dry foods for his allergies. However, recently the formula was changed to have chicken fat instead of sunflower oil. This set off a huge bout of stomach upset for my cat because he is allergic to chicken. While the chicken fat doesn’t seem like it poses a huge risk, I can’t imagine the company is refining the fat so some of the proteins from the chicken are surely in the food. If you’re looking for a chicken free recipe, look somewhere else. Incredibly disappointed at the recipe change for a “limited ingredient” food.

great taste

bought this for my elderly cat, she likes the smell but it's too hard for her to chew, the younger cat enjoys it quite a bit. it's grain free which some cats are required for a special diet.

My kitty loves it!

I’ve been giving my kitty special prescription food digestive care I/d prescribed by my vet. It gets expensive. I looked on chewy to see what might be comparable. This was the closest thing I could find. My cat has no fleas and Callie is about five years old. She scratches on and off and I have seen a decrease in the scratching. I like this product because it’s got simple ingredients. So far so good. The size of the dry food is very small so definitely easy for a cat to eat. I can go back to the prescription diet if I need to but I’m semi retired and the food gets expensive. Even on the prescription food my cat still had some scratching. This is saving me money every month which I like. Callie is Fiv and I hope to have her a long time.

Good Stuff

Of all the dry cat food brands I've tried, this is the only one that I'll continue feeding Orpheus. With other brands, he ended up with some serious digestive issues due to canola oil as one of the ingredients. One brand, he absolutely refused to even consider eating. I like the fact that Taste of the WILD PREY has limited ingredients which seem to agree with O. Ever since he started eating the Turkey Formula, he perked up, and his coat is softer and shinier. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side, but not outrageously so. Having a healthy, happy cat is worth paying a little bit more.

Taste of the wild cat food

I have used varieties of Taste of the Wild for 20 years. Cats like it and it is good for them. We started on it when we had a cat with many allergies. We have another one now with allergies and this limited ingredient version is one of very few that does not contain peas!

Happy Cat Happy Pet Parent

My cat is obsessed with kibbles and is a bit fussy - I do balance his diet with wet food but when it comes to dry food I do try to buy stuff that doesn't have a lot of extra ingredients, avoid grains because it is better for their overall health. Well I took a chance on this brand trying the Turkey Formula and my cat is so so happy with it. I'm glad I found something he his happy with because he was really bored with the same old food he has been getting.

Great quality

Unfortunately as good as it is my cats don't like the turkey. They ate it after some reluctance and still looking at me like, really?! But?!! their fur is soft! Lol

Cats took right to this

I needed to find a healthy option because Crave dry chicken seems to have changed their recipe and the cats are no longer touching it. My in laws cat gets taste of the wild and loves it so I tried the turkey and a bag of the beef dry kibble, the turkey I didn’t even need to transition them too much, they just took right at it, smaller pieces of kibble and hi levels of probiotics and healthy ingredients makes me happy and my cats are loving it and seem quite healthy and happy since the change. It’s always frustrating having to find a new food for our pets especially finicky cats, but I have 6 and all of them enjoy the turkey flavor. I will stick with this until something changes in this recipe.
