I have 2 bala sharks, a rainbow shark and an algae eater in a 75 gallon tank. Would this work for them?

Answer by Chewy • Nov 22, 2021
The vacation feeder will be suitable for those fish, in that size aquarium. We suggest feeding a small amount of the vacation feeder with their regular food to help them become accustomed to it.

How much should we feed our tetra for 1 week away? Would the fish be able to overeat with this or does the material prevent that?

Answer by Chewy • Jul 20, 2021
For a single fish in a tank smaller than 10 gallons in capacity, the manufacturer recommends a trial period. Cut it into four quarters and try one quarter for a few days while you are still home to see if your fish will eat it or not. 1/4 of a block is more than enough for one week for a small fish. 1/4 of a cake should be enough for 5-7 days for a single fish. The food is designed to slow fish down and prevent overeating it or consuming it too quickly.

I have a 3 gallon tank with one glofish. I am going away for 7 days. How much should I use?

What can I use for 8 medium 3" - 4" African Cichlids for 6 days feeding?

Answer by Chewy • May 17, 2019
For 10-19 gallons feed 1/2-1 block for 7 days. For 20-28 gallon tanks feed 1 block for up to 7 days. For 29 or more gallons feed 1-2 blocks for up to 7 days. If you keep particularly large, hungry fish such as loaches or large cichlids you can add another feeding block to the recommended amount.

Rejection

Calls of Duty causes me to leave for weeks/months at a time. So, I need 'vacation food' for my tropical fish to survive in my prolonged absence. My part-time house-sitter will drop one of these products in the aquarium every two (2) weeks. However, the fish won't eat it and have been dying off from starvation. Upon my return, the majority of the fish food cakes are still there uneaten.

good solution for long weekend

I use this food for regular fresh water fish, not just tetra - sword tails, platys, guppies like them too. I cut to 1/2 square inch pieces; each piece can last about 4-5 days. They do not smear and cloud the water, and the fish are happy.
