Tidy Cats Free & Clean Unscented Clumping Clay Cat Litter

Definitely Not Tidy

I am trying to find a litter that is safe, works well, and is a litter I can also purchase locally in the event of an emergency. I chose this litter because this was fragrance free and hypoallergenic for my cats who have allergies and Tidy Cats litter is widely available for purchase at many of my local stores. I do not detect a perfume smell but there is a smell to this litter that is not pleasant. The only thing good about this litter is that it isn't as dusty as some of the other litters I have tried, such as Ever Clean and Fresh Step Unscented. The charcoal in this litter turns the urine and stools black when the litter clumps, so if you have cats with urinary issues or irritable bowels like I do you cannot see the color of the urine or stools to see if there is any blood in them. There are some ingredients in this litter that are not healthy for animals and humans to inhale. Also, when the litter tracks (and it does track and stick to cats' feet) it gets smudged on the floor - the charcoal in the litter leaves gray marks all over the floor and one has to constantly mop. There is a greasy feeling to this litter, and you can smell the scent of the litter on your cats after they come out of the litter box. I don't recommend this litter.

odor control and tracking bad

I decided to try this litter when they ruined Ever Clean by make it so dusty I could no longer use it, which had been the best litter I'd ever used for odor control and lack of scent. I did find it to be very dust free, however, as far as odor control goes, it definitely does not contain them for more than a day or two at most for my two Persians and me scooping at least twice per day. It doesn't clump well, and I think tracking is the worst of any litter I've used. I loved the lower price, but if you have to dump all the litter every few days, it's not less expensive than the Ever Clean. Very disappointed and will not purchase again.

The litter works fine as far as preventing lasting odor and cleanup. There is a lot of dust. Tidy Cats does have a non-clay litter. Could Chewy please provide that option? Also, whoever is packing the litter is not checking that the tops are secure. I've had 3 shipments where the tops came undone and I've had litter all over my front entry way, inside and out. Please make sure tops are screwed on tight.

The bucket itself is great....

I have used another brand for 30 years, but it was out of stock. So I gave this a try. Bucket is nifty - re-usable. And the litter did control odor. BUT..... to say it ends up all over the house is an understatement - tracks everywhere!!! Also, perhaps it would be okay for a single cat household, but for our multi-cat household it has been a nightmare. I clean out the boxes 3x a day, and as needed for solids. Massive, gooey, sticky, blocks of wet litter, stick to the bottom, sides, sticks to the scoop, etc. of the box. I have to refill the box after every scooping because it just makes this horrid mess. And, it does not get all the "clump" as it also breaks off these tiny little clumps that stay dispersed in the remaining litter. Would not recommend.

Any product that I have ordered from the company has been great. My irritations stems from the company itself and the shipping. The products themselves or the containers they come in, arrive damaged. My husband is has officially asked me stop ordering through the company because we end of with litter everywhere or crushed chew toys.

Nice

This litter is a good second choice for my cats. This is secondary to the new comfort cat litter from Tidy Cats that just recently came out. This is nice because it’s fragrance free and I don’t have to worry about any additives bothering my babies. This litter is one I still buy when needed and a great choice in a pinch.

My nose is happy.

I have 2 cats and have tried many litters. While pregnant the litter bothered me so much. I couldn't clean it and my son did as best as he could. We tried this litter and I was in heaven. It does not smell. We have gone 2-3 days without scooping and it is just starting to emit odors. I won't use anything else anymore!!

Litter boxes are anything but Tidy with this

This was awful. I've been trying to find a temporary replacement for Scoop Away which for some reason has been unavailable for weeks. Our 3 litter boxes are cleaned numerous times during the day. It is a mess digging out the urine as this litter does not clump & leaves a soggy mess to dig out. I have to spend more time cleaning the boxes, and I have to make sure I wear a face mask as the litter is very dusty when poured. Lifting the heavy jug is uncomfortable for those of us with arthritis.

Good scent and clumping

The litter works very well. No issues with smells and it clumps so I can scoop out everything easily. My only issue has been that the pieces are so small they get stuck in my cats paws more often, I can tell it makes her uncomfortable and I usually have to help her get them off her

Works in a pinch

I usually use Fresh Step Simply Unscented but it's been very difficult to find in stock lately. I decided to try Tidy Cats Free & Clean instead. I've been using it for several months. I have 4 cats, and I clean all my litter boxes daily. Pros: - It really is low-dust. - It comes in a bucket that you can use easily reuse. Cons: - Even with daily scooping, after two to three weeks, the litter starts to smell of ammonia. I have to dump the whole box and refill it. It's very wasteful. The clumps break up a little and the 'crumbs' hang out in the litter and start to smell. - For some reason this litter seems to get tracked outside the box more than other litters I've tried, so I have to do a lot more sweeping to keep the area clean.
