How is this different than the 4-oz jar tomlyn pill mask advertised as for dogs and cats? The ingredients are the same. Is the cannister packaging somehow more useful than the jar... but only to cat parents?

Answer by ChewyMar 20, 2018
This product is formulated just for cats. This formulation may not be suitable for dogs.

Is bacon flavor better when dealing with cats

Answer by ChewyMay 08, 2018
Flavor preferences can vary from pet to pet.

Does this product contain any poultry? I see there is liver, but the ingredient list does not specify from what animal. My cat has a poultry allergy and is difficult to pill

Answer by ChewyJul 08, 2022
The Pill Masker Bacon flavor contains spray dried liver powder which derives from pork. There is not any poultry in this product.

What is the sodium content of this? I see it’s listed on the ingredients, but doesn’t have an amount. We are watching our sodium due to high blood pressure.

Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2021
The sodium content for Pill Masker is 10 milligrams per 2 grams.

I’ve struggled for MONTHS to get my cat to take a daily pill. Literally nothing has worked. I’ve tried pill pockets, cheese, meat, even homemade treats and he refuses. This was honestly a last ditch effort, but so far it’s worked wonderfully! he is usually the kind to eat everything around the pill and spit the pill out, but i never even hear him crunch into this pill, so i don’t think he knows it’s there haha. he likes the taste so much, he often even tries to get into the container to just eat the paste! 10/10 will likely keep using until he figures it out or dies :)

Cats don't care about it

I got this primarily for my grumpy 16 y/o that is very resistant to take his daily pill. I have to always try multiple things to mask the pill until I find "what is he in the mood for today". Pill pockets, Sheba meat sticks, churu paste, cheese, etc. Was really hoping this could be a viable extra option for the days nothing works, but he is not interested in it at all. I tried to roll a little ball for him as a treat without the pill and he just takes one sniff and walks away. Have tried multiple times, at different times of days in different days and nothing. Every time he rejected it, I tried to give it to any of my other 2 cats as a treat, but they didn't want it either. The idea is great, the consistency good for the purpose of masking a pill, but I guess I just missed the mark in choosing the flavor.

Better than pill pockets!

Love that you can make a smaller treat with this stuff, as my 19 yr old cat has trouble swallowing larger pieces of food. And he loves the bacon flavor!

Easy to use.

Tomlyn is a quality product. That being said, Bugsy ate it and spite out the pills. Bugsy is 15 years old. He has gotten wiser with age. I was giving him Pill Pockets

Tomlyn is a quality product. That being said, Bugsy ate it and spite out the pills. Bugsy is 15 years old. He has gotten wiser with age. I was giving him Pill Pockets until he started eating them and spitting out the pills. Now I crush his pills, dissolve them in chicken broth, and using a syringe suck up the liquid and squirt it down his throat. Much easier than trying to stuff a pill down his throat.

I purchased 3 different kinds of pill pockets for Hannah’s antibiotic pill and she didn’t like the soft gooey texture. Then I tried the pill masker paste. It’s more like a fudge texture and wraps around the pill easily. She gobbled it up, pill and all.

My cat recognized that the bacon treat(Tomlyn Pill Masker) was the one with the bitter center. After a few times he stopped eating the masked pills. I needed to get a transdermal equivalent to deliver the medicine properly. He did the same with pill pockets. Although, I do think my cat was a pretty smart feline. I was never fooled easily. Sadly, my poor was recently euthanized after battling cancer. Thank you for devoting your business to helping animals.

Unbelievable

Giving a cat a pill is bad enough but this stuff is amazing. My 14 year old tux cat takes medicine morning and night. He thinks he is getting treats

Full disclosure: I have not yet tried this product. I need to pill my cat and everything else I’ve tried has been a complete failure. Fingers crossed that I’ll get brave enough to give this a try. If successful, I’ll write another review. The reviews on the website for the product were very positive. I think I’ll try just giving it to Buzz as a treat and see what happens. One step at a time.

Easy to use. Better than pill pockets.

Better than the pockets that are often too big or don’t mold well. This is stickier. Cat takes anything with it. Bacon flavor great.

Medicine masker

We put the medicine in these products. The product was supposed to mask the taste of the medicine. It did not work
