What is compounding?
Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Why do some pets need compounded drugs?
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:
- Your pet has trouble taking pills but will take medication in a flavored liquid or other form.
- Your pet needs medication in a strength that is not commercially available.
- Your pet is allergic to a specific ingredient in a medication.
Always talk with your veterinarian about any concerns you have about your pets health so they can prescribe a treatment for your pets unique needs.

Do I need to have a prescription on hand before I order a prescription item?
It is not required to have a written prescription on hand when you place your order, but Chewy Pharmacy must have a patient-specific prescription from a licensed veterinarian on file before it can dispense a medication. At checkout, simply select: I want Chewy to contact my vet, and we will contact your veterinarian on your behalf to get your pets prescription. Chewy Compounding Pharmacy is licensed in its resident state of Kentucky and each state into which we ship compounded medications. Chewy Compounding Pharmacy has achieved PCAB Accreditation, so you can be assured that you have selected a pharmacy that is committed to meeting national quality standards.

Will you contact my veterinarian directly to approve my prescription medication?
Yes. If you have selected for us to contact your veterinarian, we will contact them to obtain a valid, patient-specific prescription.
How long does it take to process my prescription after the pharmacy receives it?
Prescriptions are typically processed by the pharmacy within 24-48 hours after receipt of a valid prescription form the veterinarian.

So far it's perfect..
We've instantly seen a difference in our dog that had confirmed Cushings. He has had every single symptom of Cushings and this is helping to combat a lot of those, with very quick results. Unfortunately you have to continually test and monitor with your vet to find a dosage high enough for your pet to not hurt them. It'll be an expensive and long process but this is much cheaper than the pills and he takes it right on his food without any hesitation. He will lick his bowl perfectly clean every time, loves the flavor. Highly recommend.
Review of Trilostane
We had been getting this medicine from another pharmacy, but wanted to try Chewy. Took advantage of a coupon since this was our first purchase at the Chewy Pharmacy. Penny, our 7 yr old chihuahua, has Cushings Disease and has to take this medicine the rest of her life. She doesn't like taking it, she runs when she sees me with the applicator. I just say 1 2 3 and put it in her mouth and she deals with it.
Need help with getting the full amount of what I have paid for.
This medication is great and love the price. But it only has a 4 -months lifespan. Every time I order it, I only get 2-months of this lifespan. meaning you are sending me the last 2-months lifespan of the batch that was made up. Compounded 02/08/2022. Use before 06/08/2022. I had refilled on 03/19/2022. 60mL /5mg twice a day. I only get a about 2-months and 2 weeks of use. You only sale it by 30mL, 60mL, 90mL.It would benefit more if it were 70mL. Is there a reason why you don't do the 70mL?
Great product
We have been giving our dog Vetoryl capsules (for Cushing's disease) for over a year. They are really hard to give her, and sometimes find a pill that she spits out later. A friend recently told us that she gives their dog the liquid form (chicken flavored) and that it's much easier. It is much easier, and our dog doesn't mind the taste! So we're always sure she has had the correct dosage. Chewy offers the product in many strengths (mg/ml) which makes it easy to change if our vet raises the dosage later. Really like the product so far and happy we found it.
Great Price!
I switched to Chewy due to a huge price decrease. I'm so glad I did! Not only is there no handling fee they ship via Fed Ex, at no charge! No more wondering when the meds coming or if it's going to freeze from sitting in the mailbox all day! Thank you Chewy for making life a little less stressful!
Container Leaks!
I have to agree with all these reviews, in regards to the container this stuff comes in. It is a HOT MESS! When you try to use the syringe, the oily stuff leaks out all over the container & your hand. I finally had to ditch the syringe and now just 'estimate' my dog's dosage by sprinkling drops over her food! Hey---manufacturer of this product, you need to find a new supplier for your containers. Please listen to your customers! The actual solution is fine. Container SUCKS!
Good Service
The price is far more reasonable than the vet. Very convenient for Chewy to verify & approve via the Vet's office.
Effective RX
My 16.5 yr old Maltese has been on this medication for 4-5 yrs bc of Cushing’s disease. Along with lots of love and attention she’s doing well. Chewy’s Pharmacy delivers well packaged and in timely manner. My only disappointment is how in three months the price jumped surprisingly high. I’ll pay what it takes to keep my pup healthy but it’s no wonder why there aren’t more animal adoptions. Vet care and meds are too high and keeping many animals from adoptions. Even shelters can’t keep up. So sad.
ADMAZING DELIVERY
I needed this medication for my dog right away and my vet took 3 days to okay it with chewy. It had to be compounded and made and then shipped to me. It got here 2 days after the vet finally signed off on it. How amazing and it is for her Cushing's Disease and she needed it asap. These people are awesome.
An Affordable Option
This is so much more affordable than the capsules! My dog takes it without issue.
