Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:
Always talk with your veterinarian about any concerns you have about your pets health so they can prescribe a treatment for your pets unique needs.

As always, Chewys customer service is impeccable! I got a call from Chewy pharmacy as this is my first time filling this particular Rx with them. They were trying to save me some money and not be wasteful or meds that have a short shelf life. They didn’t have the same option as my vet provided, but they called me to explain, called the vet to work out details on what is the best cost effective way to treat my dog and get him the appropriate meds then filled and shipped quickly. I appreciate all you do Chewy staff. Thank you!
I went to liquid form because my critter is getting pretty creative at avoiding swallowing pills. The problem with the formulation is it needs frequent shaking to keep the drug in solution. It separates easily. Even when drawing up in a syringe for accuracy it separates in the barrel so I cannot be sure how much is the drug and how much is just diluent. I’ve gone back to pills and better ways of disguising the pills until I can figure out a better way with this med.
I love this. Best thing I did was getting the liquid Trulostane. My little Chihuahua needs if for Cushing it was horrible trying to give him the capsule this has made the taking cleaner and I know he is getting the right amount. Comes in different flavors.
I am not certain I will continue giving my dog this medication but the customer service I received from Chewy was excellent!
I love that chewy carries trilostan at a great price, and I can get it quickly
I have to give the medicine to my dog in a teaspoon because the syringe broke right away. Very cheap!
I get this medicine monthly and have never had an issue. Love the auto ship. But this bottle was only 1/2 full and is almost gone a week early.
This compound appears to be as good as the one I got from out veterinarian for a good deal less money.
Too much of a hassle. Accuracy may be off when trying to draw up a precise amount and if your dog drools some of it out. You have to be very careful not to get it on your skin which can happen even when wearing gloves. You need to buy a constant supply of syringes since they can only be used a short time even if you rinse them after each use which is recommended. In summation, the compounded capsules are so much easier to deal with. They come in enough dosages to fit probably any dog's needs.
Multiple emails & calls & pharmacy continues to send an oral syringe that does not work correctly. The oral syringe neck is too long so liquid medication is left in the neck after pushing the plunger. It does not empty no matter how hard you push the plunger. This means my dog is not getting an accurate dose &/or I’m wasting medication 2 times a day that costs $80 bottle. I got this med before from another pharmacy with the correct syringe & advised chewy pharmacy but their response is to send me 2 incorrect syringes. Apparently no one at the pharmacy cares if my pet is getting an accurate dose of a very expensive compounded med. Makes me wonder about their medication compounding capability.
