The dimensions for the top perch are 14.5 inches long x 14.5 inches wide and the dimensions for the base are 15 5/8 inches long x 15 5/8 inches wide.

Nice Height But...

I realized with the last scratching post that both my big boy and my much smaller girl needed a post where they could stretch out and also needed something with a base heavy enough that it wouldn't slide over my bare wood floor every time they used it. I don't have much space so I still needed something simple. The tall and simple criteria have been met, but ... The column comes in two pieces that need to be assembled, a design element that makes this product a lot less sturdy than if the column came in one piece. In fact, I assembled the whole thing using the included hex key with a wrench to ensure that I put it together tightly but it still feels rickety enough that my little girl, a former feral accustomed to making really high jumps, hasn't used the mounted pedestal once since I put it together. The pedestal and good size base give it extra weight so it doesn't slide as much as the last post I had but my girl who weighs about 9 lbs can still pull it across the floor. They couldn't even wait till it was assembled. They both started using the sisal post the moment I unboxed it--so no complaints there. One further note: I ordered beige and received a medium gray-colored product.

Ease of assembly

This little scratching post was very easy to put together with the little allen wrench that is included. My cats have tried it out and I hope they become more attached

This little scratching post was very easy to put together with the little allen wrench that is included. My cats have tried it out and I hope they become more attached to it. The only issue with it is I have to put it in a corner so it is supported on two sides. It doesn't tip very easily, but with two kittens leaping on it, it can fall over. If I had the oomph I would try to weight the bottom somehow. . But for now it's just in a corner!

I got it because my cat is large. This scratch post is wabbling and unstable. Plus I had to take it apart 3 times before I could get it together correctly. No details in picture instructions. Now I know why it's on sale and the cats hate it. So do I. Disappointed in the space it takes up and the cats don't trust it won't fall over. Me either. Taking it down! And thinking twice about what I buy and where it comes from! DISAPPOINTED. RIGHT NOW ITS SHOVED UNDER DOOR JAM TO STABILIZE. BLOCKING ENTRENCE TO BATHROOM.

Unsteady

This was bought for our 10 lb cat. He was scratching on our furniture and even though he's technically an outside cat, he comes in occasionally. We assembled

This was bought for our 10 lb cat. He was scratching on our furniture and even though he's technically an outside cat, he comes in occasionally. We assembled the item and it was very shaky when he would jump to the upper level so we added some shims to steady the length of the post. That helps but it seems there should be a better way to stabilize the shaft of the post. He loves to scratch on it, so that is a plus and it performs as it should for that.

The height because my cat is tall
