This is the first scratching post I've bought for my babies; it was a good choice! The Trixie Parla post is well-made, sturdy, attractive; not too large, not too small. The fuzzy parts (platinum colored) feel so soft, and the sisal feels nicely scratchable. I was very pleased with how easy the post was to put together with the included hex key. The kitties pretty much ignored the post for several days. I thought maybe it was because they were used to horizontal cardboard scratchers. But then Cocoa made the inaugural scratches (didn't get a photo); and all the kitties are slowly warming up to this new thing in their space. :)

Our 2 cats used this post daily for 2 years before the rope was shredded too much for them to sharpen their claws anymore. Sadly, it was not constructed so that you can rip off the old rope and easily glue on new. So I bought a new post, same as the first. They've slightly changed the design. The old post was 3 parts - the base + 2 halves of the post. This one is just a base and 1 long post. It's super easy and fast to put together. One cat tried to use it as soon as I took it out of the bag and was attempting to sharpen her claws while I had it upside down to screw the pieces together. This is well-constructed and I expect will last another 2 years.

The price was reasonable, so i wasn't expecting anything amazing, i was just hoping the cats liked it. They love it. It is nice and tall so all of them can really stretch out when using it. And it is stable enough that it doesn't tip even when one of the larger cats runs at it full tilt. I am very pleased. And it is holding up well, still looks great after three+ weeks with 5+ cats having access to it daily.

He has others that sway and tip, but he prefers this because he can scratch for as long as he wants. I’m buying more (Murphy Scissorpaws does go through them pretty fast). Oh, and reasonably priced!

Just what I needed. Unfortunately my mature 3 year old “fur baby” took to sharpening his claws on my husband’s chair by our sliding glass door. Since we have no option but to have furniture by the glass door (he absolutely LOVES sitting there and looking out!) I had to get a scratching post to sit close to his chair, so this was the perfect solution.
