Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Do i need a script from the vet for this

This flea and tick treatment does not require a prescription from your veterinarian.

My dog used to be 20 lbs, now he’s up to 25 lbs. Both of us have gained weight during this pandemic :( Will this be effective on him? I have 4 treatments left. Can I use 2 treatments on him at once since he’s over the weight?I don’t want to waste it but will if it’s not effective or safe for him.

Answer by ChewyJul 12, 2020
This treatment is made for dogs 11-20 pounds. For dogs over 20 pounds we recommend the Vectra 3D Flea & Tick Treatment for Medium Dogs.

If it’s raining and I applied it at 5pm the day before is it already dried and water proof? At 6-7am the next morning?

Answer by ChewyDec 04, 2019

Monitor efficacy

Disappointed when groomer told me many fleas in groin area. I will monitor the next 2 months. May need to switch to a different flea medication.

After having 2 dogs whose last days were plagued by brain tumors, I asked my vet what the best topical option was for flea and tick prevention. I am in Maine and thus ticks are a huge issue. He himself does NOt give his dogs oral flea & tick prevention- which says it all- and he recommended Vectra. We are outside a lot including weekly hikes through a local forest and not once have I had to remove a tick from my pup, nor have we seen a flea. This makes for a happy pup and owner!

Not much fun but necessary.

These are a pain in the neck too apply. But so far it’s Work. We prefer a topical in terms of the safety for our dog. Our vet agrees.

Quick response for prescription

Use to get laundry folded while waiting for your competitor to answer my phone call. Pleasant surprise that Chewy is speedy in whole process.

In the past we used BRAVECTO and this year it did nothing to stop the fleas. I spent so much $ bathing him myself at a local groomers and also with professional bathing as well to no avail. I've used Dawn soap that definitely works killing fleas yet it doesn't seem to stop the eggs from hatching so more fleas everyday. UGH nightmare! My vet suggested VECTRA (topical) even when the BRAVECTO had one more month (3-month chewable) to topically apply the VECTRA. AND it seems to have taken care of the last of the remaining adult fleas and the eggs. Welcome to my world for the past 5 months! Ps I do not see any fleas in my home at all.

The auto mailing went out to the wrong address before I had a say if I wanted it or not. When I called Chewy to stop it had already shipped out to my winter home in MS. We are in MI now. We don’t know if was picked up by a guest renter there, or stolen. I’m trying to track our pkg. down still.

My review is not based on effectiveness but on reaction. I have an 8 year old Pekignese x Poodle mix that weighs 14lbs. I applied the Vectra 3D 11-20lbs along his back. About 15 minutes into application he was uncontrollably scratching around his scapular area. It seemed to have concentrated in that area behind his neck. About 30 minutes in I noticed the site was very red and irritated. 1-2 hours goes by and he’s scratching constantly, panting, restless. We gave him Benedryl and tried washing it off and keeping him calm. Next morning still red, itchy, uncomfortable, he vomited and has diarrhea. He is a sensitive skin dog but didn’t expect this much of a reaction. Will not be repurchasing with fear of a chemical burn/further skin reactions. Use with caution. Again not rating on effectiveness.
