This would be used to treat a hot spot where my Lab licks his paws. Will it hurt him if he tries to lick off the solution?

Answer by ChewyFeb 04, 2018
This Spray is non-toxic and will not harm them if licked however, we recommend trying to keep them away from the area if possible, so it can heal faster.

What is the difference between this spray and the basic Vetericyn Plus antimicrobial gel?

Answer by ChewyAug 25, 2021
There is no difference in treatment for either of the two, it is just a preference. One is a gel, similar to the consistency of Aloe Vera and the other is a liquid. Both will treat in the same manner.

Terrible, Risky

Her skin was worst after use once, heavy inflammation, almost bloody. Emergency visit to the vet was expensive.

Helpful otc remedy

This was helpful to use until I could get dog into vet for hot spot. She clipped and cleaned and ordered antibiotics. She recommended I keep using even after antibiotics

My 11 yo Airedale developed a sore on his butt just north of where his tail starts. I bathed the area around the sore with a warm water and terrycloth towel. I dried it and soaked the area with Vetericyn and tried to rub it into the scalp. I repeated this initially 2x daily and after several days cut it back to once a day. He wore an inflated collar for the first few days as well. There's no more inflammation and the hair is growing back. Hope it stays this way.

Mis read instructions

I did not read enough to find out it needed to be rubbed on a shaved area on my cats. I would not have bought it if I had read that.

Ineffective

The product was ineffective in resolving the hot spot. There has been no improvement since we started treating the area with this product.

Amazing!

Occasionally my dog will get a hot spot on or by his tail due to allergies. I have tried numerous other treatments that work but take much longer to completely heal

Occasionally my dog will get a hot spot on or by his tail due to allergies. I have tried numerous other treatments that work but take much longer to completely heal the spot. I could see a difference with Vetericyn after one application- less irritation. I did not do more than one or two treatments per day as it is very drying, and the top skin will flake off.

Ease of use

Coming off a four month battle with an antibiotic resistant staph infection brought on by food allergies, this product was recommended by my veterinary dermatologist

Coming off a four month battle with an antibiotic resistant staph infection brought on by food allergies, this product was recommended by my veterinary dermatologist. It’s easy to apply, soothes my boy’s skin and doesn’t stain anything. It’s a wonderful alternative to the antibiotics.

It works!

Both my German shepherds had hotspots on their back. I sprayed this on both of them and their hotspots are healing perfectly very fast.

Not good for paw licking

The vet said this product was fine for small cuts, but worthless for my dog who was licking her paws. The vet put on an allergy med instead.
