Questions & Answers

Our dog (part Jack Russell terrier) is almost finished with the first jar of Glandex. He is still scooting. Is there something else or should I try another jar of Glandex?

Answer by ChewyApr 14, 2018
On average the majority of pets see results within 3 - 5 weeks or less when using Glandex regularly. Typically the more severe your pet's anal gland problems are the longer it may take to see results and some pets may require up to 2 - 3 months of regular usage to achieve optimal results.

Have been using this sucessfully for a few months now but wondering how long to continue..is this product intended for long term use?

Answer by ChewyJan 09, 2018
Most pets with chronic anal gland issues will need to use Glandex on a regular ongoing basis in order to keep their anal glands healthy and prevent future problems. If your pet is only having a temporary anal gland issues then once results are achieved it is okay to discontinue Glandex usage.

I forgot to put these in the refrigerator after opening. Are these still okay to give to my dog?

Answer by ChewyMay 04, 2020
These chews do not require refrigeration but should be kept in a cool, dry place. For best results, it is recommended to refrigerate after opening.

I have been buying this for a while and have never had any issues until now. A day after opening and using this particular container, for 7 uses, my dog would throw up within 5 minutes of having the normal treat amount, as recommended. If I would skip a day of the treat to see if she would sick, she’d be fine. As soon as I stopped giving it to her from this batch, she didn’t get sick. I’m looking into finding the right people to report this to, but I’m irritated that it’s basically a $50 container wasted because I’m not going to keep giving me dog something that clearly has something proportionally or nutritionally wrong with it.

I had been giving the chews for some time and was a little nervous to charge to the powder in case he didn’t like it being sprinkled on his food. He LOVED it on his food. Dog through the powder, there IS a scoop in the bottom. A little messy when we first got started and now it’s quick and easy and the dog loves it.

My Chihuahua scoots occasionally, but my Mini Pinscher scoots a little more frequently--maybe because it is impossible to keep him from eating whatever he can find--in the yard, on walks, etc.--in addition to his regular food and snacks. Anyway, I find 1/2 chew daily works well for them both. Both dogs like the peanut butter flavor.

Let me start by saying my dog has always had a sensitive stomach. When he first took it, within 2 minutes he vomited everything up. I tried mixing in his food and he wouldn't eat then. If you try this I recommend buying the small batch to make sure your different eats it. I bought the large bottle because it had such good reviews but every way I try to feed this to my dog he either won't eat it or throws it up. Tried grinding it in to tiny bits in his dog food. Masking with gravy or peanut butter or wrapped in bread and won't eat it or throws it up.

Although my dog ate them willingly, I don’t even make it to the full dose before it gave him horrible gas and explosive diarrhea. I would rather deal with gland issues than this. It’s a no go for us, unfortunately.

My dog is a boxer-pit mix, 11yrs old today :) He has always had problems with glands filling up and stinking badly, every couple months or so. The vet suggested these supplements and I chose to purchase them from Chewy for the great price. They work!! Our dog is 65-70 lbs, and hes supposed to get 2 I think based off his weight? I am frugal and give him 1 a day as a snack, and just 1 a day has made a difference! He has become gassy taking these, like his farts surprise him lol, but I feel like that's what they're designed to do (help with buildup. I am a frugal shopped and will stretch things where I can, so the fact that I can see a difference with half the recommended dosage has me as a long-term customer! If you're on the fence, get them!!

No scooting

My dog doesn't scoot and doesn't need to go to the vet to get her glands expressed. And she's a picky eater but she eats these well.
