Sorbitol plays two parts: Along with glycerol, it helps hold the toothpaste together, and it's also a sweetening agent. It's not known to be harmful to dogs and cats.

Effective toothpaste

I personally like this brand. It is so important to brush your pets teeth daily to help keep them healthy. So if you are a dog or cat owner then I would recommend

I personally like this brand. It is so important to brush your pets teeth daily to help keep them healthy. So if you are a dog or cat owner then I would recommend getting into a daily routine of brushing their teeth. Neglecting them could cause other more serious health issues. Not to mention having dental work at a Veterinarian will cost hundreds of dollars once they develop gum and dental problems. Which will occur if neglected. So do yourself and your pet a favor and invest a little time in keeping them healthy.

Use a long dog toothbrush to reach for mouth (unless you have a tiny dog). My dog eats almost anything! But it took weeks of loving persistence (hold jaw and force toothbrush between jowls and teeth) to gradually get her to at least want the flavor. It took almost 2 months for her to look 'almost happy' when she saw me pick up the tube. She started acting like it was a treat. I had to pay a couple $100 for vet-dentist to address a dental problem. Persistence with this is good for Lucille and great for my packet.

Dogs coming running

When I call "tooth brushing," both our Boston Terriers come running. I only use Vetoquinol with a finger brush made of silicon, and the dogs really like it. Chicken

When I call "tooth brushing," both our Boston Terriers come running. I only use Vetoquinol with a finger brush made of silicon, and the dogs really like it. Chicken flavor not overpowering to this human. Never made them nauseous, unlike a few other brands of toothpaste I tried.

I have a senior kitty that is FIV+ they have gum and dental issues His drool smelled to high heaven because of the chronic gingivitis and bad teeth. I started using this with a pet mouthwash and within 4 days I saw a difference. His Vet said his teeth are perfect he only had 1 bad tooth that got extracted. I also squirt some mouthwash along his gums. I love this stuff!!

This toothpaste is extremely effective in controlling tartar and preventing gingivitis. When I first adopted my little dog, she had terrible gingivitis and had to have 6 teeth pulled. I've brushed my little dog's teeth every evening for the last 5 years and she's been gingivitis free and no cleanings required.

Good luck catching the cat

This might be the best stuff ever made for cat dental health. I just can’t figure out how to get the Q-tip with this on it in the cat mouth? The big man at the vet

This might be the best stuff ever made for cat dental health. I just can’t figure out how to get the Q-tip with this on it in the cat mouth? The big man at the vet had no problem. Back at home with the little lady this is a NO GO as far as the cat is concerned. Might work great, but we will never know.
