Can my cat with kidney disease take this?
Answer by ChewyOct 29, 2018
Due to your pet's diagnosed condition, we encourage consulting your Veterinarian to see which chews would be safe for them. Each pet's condition can vary and the vet will be able to monitor them and give the best recommendations according to your pet's tested levels.

Instead of giving twice daily can I just give all at once?

Yay! Finally some relief

My stray turned house cat was tested FIP+. He insists on going out and keeping the neighborhood in check. I've had a white cat, when I was a child, that had to be put down due to allergies to the grass. Heartbreaking, and I knew there had to be a solution. After reading other reviews I decided the price was right to give this a try. Sam has respiratory and skin issues, to the point where he pulls his fur out leaving a raw bare skin patch. I've tried the cone of shame with neosporin, I tried Jackson Galaxy's skin smoother and easy breather, and they helped but didn't resolve the problems. After only 3 days of this supplement I can see noticable differences! He is so sweet and let's me doctor him without complaining. Quite a switch from the wild guy he was when he found me. I highly recommend this product for skin allergies and upper respiratory issues!

Worth the price

I have an exotic short hair who is prone to chronic upper respiratory infections (leaky/swollen eye) and was starting to get them often enough where I’d have to give her eye drops more often. My vet recommended me l-lysine and gave me a topper powder but my picky gal would not eat her food if it was on it. After some research I picked up these and we are now on our fourth bag! I haven’t had to use her eye drops in months and her eyes are so much more clear and way less gunk! The treats are a little big for her mouth (flat face) but they’re soft enough to break up into multiple pieces and she thinks she’s getting extra treats, so it’s honestly a win win! She loves the flavor and looks forward to them every morning and evening. I would definitely recommend trying these out if your cat has watery eyes or respiratory issues!

Cat Eye Issues

My cat has herpes in his eyes (no, it is not contagious - that was the first question I asked my vet). My vet recommended this product and it has changed his life. His eyes sometimes still look irritated, but he does not have the big "chunks of gunk" in his eyes all the time.

Works if cat will eat

My kitty has a runny, gunky eye discharge. I have prescription eye drops but the condition persists. My vet recommended Lysine treats. If she would eat these every day, I think her eyes would finally clear up completely. She eats them every few days, turns them down other days. Her eye condition is improved even just eating sometimes.

lysine chewable

we have a cat that had a severe herpetic infection as a kitten that left him blind. His immune system is a little compromised and our vet suggested daily lysine. We tried powder which was messy and had to be mixed with wet food. These chews are so much easier. They are soft and can be broken into small bites. Stevie Wonderful loves them and eats them like a treat!

If your cat likes them...

Ok, so I have 5 cats of varying ages. Two (full brothers) have food allergies J & E; J's allergies are MUCH worse than E's. They're very allergic to chicken, chicken meal, fish (all types), fish meal, and to a lesser extent, gluten, wheat, and some other grains. It's been a challenge. J started scratching a chewing himself one day and hasn't really stopped. We've done the steroid shots, tablets, etc and nothing seems to help for long. The vet gave us some L-Lysine treats that seemed to work a little then it all got worse - the first ingredient was chicken followed by chicken meal. We've tried unflavored L-Lysine in limited ingredient canned food but that doesn't seem to work because the one cat who REALLY needs this, takes one or two bites and walks away (figures). So I tried these. These STINK. They smell like chicken fat. Again, the cat who really needs this just walks away. The other four cats literally will climb me like a tree to get at these. I'll have to try something else.

Recommended by vet

Our cat was having bouts of sneezing episodes several times a year. This was contagious to our other cats so our vet recommended this to stop the cycle. When the sneezing is not occurring we do 1 twice a day and if it starts we do 2 twice a day. So far so good!

Great supplement for my cat

I adopted my cat and when I did he was sneezing a lot . I asked the vet about it and he said that these lysine chews are helpful to cats with immune issues.. I have been giving him these treats every day and he doesn't sneeze anymore. He recently had a check-up and was pronounced a very healthy cat. I believe these lysine chews are responsible. My cat likes them and everyone is happy!

Didn’t Like Them

My cat did not like these. First, they’re huge. Not at all “bite sized”. I had to break them into 2-3 pieces for my cat to even be able to get them in her mouth. Second, they’re not soft. Third, my cat did not like the taste. She ate some of them initially. But she stopped and refused to even look at them when I put them out for her thereafter. The thing is, when she did eat them initially, there was a noticeable difference in her eye inflammation. If these could be made more palatable and smaller I think they would be great. As they are though, it was a waste of money.

Always keep on hand

My cat had a very bad respiratory infection a few years ago. I was looking for something to boost his immune response and this seems to work. Also he is Very picky and loves the taste!
