Feed 1/8 cup of food daily in a heavy dish. Fresh drinking water and unlimited high-fiber hay should always be available: timothy for adults, alfalfa for young guinea pigs (under 6 months of age).
Supplement with fresh leafy greens & chopped vegetables. Offering treats and fruits by hand is a great way to reward and bond with your pet, but should be fed sparingly.
Discard uneaten food and clean dish before each feeding. Adjust amounts as needed for healthy weight maintenance or multiple pets.
I have a couple of either spoiled or picky Guinea Pigs that do not seem overly enthused about the Oxbow pellets in any form, so I have tried several differing types of food. This one from Vitakraft seems to be up to their liking especially when fresh. I dump out whatever is not eaten and give them fresh pellets everyday along with their water. I mix in some Oxbow pellets as I know they are good for them and both girls seem to eat it pretty good. There was another food that I had tried by Vitakraft that they liked too but I can not remember it. Currently I am trying a food from Kaytee called Food from the Wild, Natures foraging Blend that they seem to really like. Plus they may be pretty spoiled because every single day I give them a fresh salad of carrots, differing lettuces, red or yellow peppers, brochalli and once in a while fresh dandilions. So they get to feast on that while I have them out of their cage in a larger area for their daily exercise time. Sometimes they really go for timothy hay and others not as much so I think I probably need to ditch the giant bag I have and buy small fresh ones from Oxbow. My vet says that Oxbow is the very best and she also said Guinea Pigs love the vines off of growing sweet potatoes. That sure proved correct as I was able to get some in season from a relative and they love that more than anything. Lastly, because I am paranoid over them getting enough fresh vitamin C I always split my orange or clementine with them during our playtime, giving them a slice each. They love those , but are sure messy eaters.
After trying many different brands, my guinea pig loves this food. She eats it all.
My Guinea pig loves this food. It has a wide variety of benefits, too. I used to pay over $10 for a 4 lb bag of food that he didn’t like. Once I found this at a cheaper price and it contains more protein, I decided to stick with it. Highly recommended!
This product is fine but I mistakenly ordered it in stead of rabbit food. Thankfully it is safe to feed to our bunny and he likes it. I’ll get it right next time.
My little guys didn't like these , I gave the snacks to Golden Valley Humane Society for donate ..
I personally can't tell you what this tastes like, but I can tell you that our guinea pigs love this food!
My Guineas really enjoy it it’s the basic necessities of what they need to stay fat and healthy
Excellent purchase and timely delivery. Thank you.
My guinea pigs absolutely love these pellets. One issue is this batches bag was ripped.
Our guinea pig absolutely LOVES this mix! He will go zooming in his home when he hears it being refilled! We have tried other brands from the local pet stores that he didn’t really care for. He would pick through the mix and leave what he didn’t want to eat. This mix he eats just about everything! The peanuts he doesn’t care for but there’s so little that it doesn’t make a huge difference.
