Questions & Answers

14 Customer Questions

Does it contain mercury?

Answer by ChewySep 10, 2023
The salmon oil has been tested and does not contain any measurable amounts of toxins or heavy metals such as Mercury, Arsenic, Cadmium, or Lead.

Are these salmon caught in the wild or farmed from wild caught salmon?

Answer by ChewyAug 12, 2023
The salmon are wild-caught off the coast of Alaska and processed in our facility on the East Coast of the United States.

What is the shelf life? Does it need to be refrigerated?

Answer by ChewyMar 25, 2024
It is recommended to refrigerate this oil to extend its shelf life by avoiding direct sunlight, heat, and moisture exposure. For best results, use within 90 days of opening but the fish oil can last up to 4-6 months if stored properly. Always smell the fish oil if you suspect it has gone bad. If it smells extra fishy or extra rancid, it might be bad.

Do you give this once or twice a day?

Answer by ChewyMay 05, 2024
The recommended daily dosage can be split between feedings or given during one meal.

skin allergic reactions and hot spots gone!

My cat has severe allergies and was on daily allergy meds in addition to courses of steroids. He's been like this for many years, he gets hot spots, bites and digs at himself ripping out his fur and causing skin lesions if I did not get steroids in time. I've been giving him this oil daily for about 2 months and he has improved DRAMATICALLY!! He can actually relax instead of tearing himself up and his need for steroids has dropped by 90%. He is still taking his daily allergy pill but only once a day where before this oil I had to give it 2x daily. This is an amazing improvement! I think with continued use of this oil, he may get off the allergy meds totally. I also have a dog that has a recurring hot spot on his back and since giving him this oil, the hot spot is gone and has not come back.

So I can't really review the fish oil. Okay? Because the first time they accidentally sent it to my wrong address. My old address, but the second time they had my new address. I made sure of it and they still sent it to my old address. So I waited two weeks for nothing. As for a refund, because I really didn't want to wait a whole nother week for the item again.

At first I thought that there was no way fish oil would make my dog itch, but after seeing other reviews, it makes sense. She got super itchy, and her coat became dull after using this product for a few months. I took her off of it and she's so much better. Hoping her coat becomes healthy and shiny again.

I buy these when they are on sale or when I have a coupon. My dogs love it, and I give it to them as a supplement, as the benefits of fish oil are immense. I notice vitality when I give it to my dogs, although they do smell a little fishy after consuming it, and the scent lingers on their bodies for a while.

There are a total of 4 cats in this house. Two are mine. One is a Manx and is chubby. He has a hard time cleaning his rear and his skin gets really dry. Recently, I had to take him to the vet for a couple of mats that I couldn't get under control. The vet recommended fish oil and I bought this since it's just easier to give it to all four cats. One of the other three is the Manx's brother who also has skin issues. Anyway, the cats love this oil and it's a lot easier than the first little bottle I bought that had a tiny measuring spoon. That was a literal mess. This is much easier. The pump is very touchy tho and a couple of messes have happened while getting use to it. It's well worth it tho.

I am happy about the size of the jug

I like this product because it is a very large jug and the serving size is not a crazy amount so I see myself being ableto use it for quite some time before purchasing

Ok for the cats not the dogs

I switched to this brand because the caps on the Welactin bottles leaked. But it dosen't work for my dogs, they are super itchy again. I will be going back to Welactin
