This bird food will not keep black birds away. It is recommended to keep away foods such as bread, corn, millet, wheat and sunflower seeds to not attract black birds.

We live on a State Highway and they drop our package off at the road. We have attempted many times to correct this through Chewy and FedEx with no resolution. We have stopped our recurring dog food order and this will probably be the last bird seed order.

These seeds have been radiated so they won’t grow when planted. I give my chickens black oil sunflower seeds directly, but also like to sprout them for a highly nutritious chicken feed, and enjoy throwing them around the yard to grow small sunflowers anywhere they’ll come up. It brings me so much joy. Not these seeds though! Not one has ever sprouted and I couldn’t figure out why until I found out they are radiated now to prevent them from being plantable. Not only is that gross and rude, but I don’t want to feed my pets food that has been radiated. They should have to state that on the bag and it’s wrong that they don’t. Very sneaky. The price has also skyrocketed recently. I switched to another brand.

I have bought this brand of black oil sunflower seed twice. There is a lot of cut up stems and scrap material in the bag. The last purchase had considerably more trash in it. This brand is more expensive! You would think that you are paying for a better product. No. I wouldn’t mind paying more if I were not getting half a bag of scrap! Not only am I paying for scrap but those chopped up stems clog up the bird feeder. I have to go out and try to shake the trash out of the openings of the feeder that have a build up of these dried chopped up stems. This method of harvesting these seeds for bird food started somewhat over ten years ago. It has gotten increasingly worse. From where do they get these seeds? Why is it that everything becomes lower in quality instead of improved?

Ugh...what happened with quality control? Believe the recent reviews. I've used this birdseed for 18 months and the last bag was full of branches and twigs. It takes me 30 minutes to sort out everything before putting the seeds into the feeder. Definitely not fun. Will be looking for something better.

That make the chickadees and cardinals happy

This seems to be the favorite of my backyard birds. I feed them nothing else and I always get a wide variety of birds to my yard.

Birds are not picky (no pun intended) so determining their level of satisfaction is hard to decipher. I do notice that the bags of Wagners black oil sunflower seed has far fewer pieces of debris. Other brands contain pieces of plant stems that the birds of course cannot eat. I do also appreciate the fast shipping that Chewy always accomplishes.

It was a better deal than the 20 pound bag

And of course, the birds are very happy with it as well as the squirrels
