The best way to transition onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet. Mixing the food will allow the dog to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food.
I received two cases of my fur babies favorite topper and they refused to eat it at first. After a few minutes they ate a little bit. I knew when I opened the can that the consistency was different, it was watery, and had a gel like substance on top. Skia became lethargic after eating it and Zoey ran outside and started eating grass like crazy. I will not be giving this stuff to the shelter. I have to say that Chewy did reimburse me. Thank you Chewy!
He LOVES it!

Our dog has been eating Wellness Lamb for years and he loves it. He's very picky and there was a long time that our local pet store stopped carrying this brand so I am very happy to see it here at Chewy.com!
Terrible Canned Lamb
on Jun 8, 2020
I have been buying this lamb canned food for several years. I just received it June 7. The first can was very slimy as was the second.
The top of both cans when opened is a blob of gel, the rest of it is very wet and full of white chunks of fat. Now I am stuck with 10 cans. I won't even donate to an animal shelter.

The cans that arrived have a very watery consistency with lots of white pieces throughout and smell a bit off. I wonder if they changed where they get the lamb from or how they process it? The consistency is usually more gelatin like with coalesced broth or fat around the sides, but this time the lamb was siting in a pool of water with a lot of white fat throughout. In the past the quality of this product has been excellent and has been gentle on my pups sensitive tummy.
For Picky Dogs Everywhere

My lab is the absolutely pickiest dog EVER when it comes to food. This canned lamb (and the chicken works, too) is the only thing I've been able to mix with her dry food and get her to eat with little or no coaxing. I think the gravy gooey texture that is around the sides of the meat must be very flavorful and smelly.... Things a dog is attracted to. My little dachshund loves it, too, but she's not near as picky. It's just a bonus and relief that they both eat it til it's gone and I don't have to worry about it anymore. These are dogs who stuck their noses in the air over the way more expensive Carnivora wet food. And that wet food is top notch, I am not disparaging it. Please note that is is NOT a dog-food, its a TREAT or Supplement!
on Nov 9, 2019
Yes-- they love it, and it does say right on the can, feed only as a topper or supplement, and that it does NOT replace a regular dog-food diet. But I had purchased with the intention of trying as variety from the Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grill. My bad, perhaps I need to be a better reader? And yes, they love it, but face-it, my puppies will follow me like a vacuum cleaner, cleaning up chocolate-browny crumbs, and we all know how good chocolate is for dogs, right? Also, another warning, yes, it does not contain wheat, corn or soy, but it DOES contain carrageenan, just in case your pet is allergic, as many are. But otherwise, enjoy only as a treat or topper.
Are you kidding me about the package?

The food maybe good but the can is sooooo HARD to open, unless you want to spend half an hour in opening the can for your doggie on Monday morning. There are same quality canned food out there with far easier open method. Hope Wellness R&D team can improve their package!
Good Kong Filler

My Dog Loves It
on Oct 1, 2019
As recommended I use this as a topper for my dog meals. My dog loves it so much I wish I could just feed this exclusively. However as a topper she digs in. Highly recommend.
