Human Food Standards

Weruva pet foods are made in a state-of-the-art human food facility that caters to many countries, each with its own processing standards. Weruva proudly earned an “A” grade on The British Retail Consortium (BRC), which is one of the strictest standards.

Specifically Formulated for Feline

Cats are obligate carnivores, which means they only need meat and water to survive. All Weruva recipes are formulated with this in mind. The calories in each recipe come from three places: protein, fat and carbohydrates. The calories from meat are comprised of protein and fat with minimal, if any, calories coming from carbohydrates.

Kidney Cat Loves This!

I have two Russian Blue female cats and Sasha, my nearly 12 year old cat, was diagnosed with early kidney disease in 2021 and it has been a struggle to get her to eat the prescription kidney foods. I've learned to be creative and came up with a new approach that works fairly well with her. I take the entire can of Weruva Paw Lickin'Chicken and put it in my mini blender and blend until it's soft, creamy and basically liquid. I then put a small amount of kidney prescription food (1/6 of a 5 oz can of either Hill's Kidney Care Tuna Pate or Blue Buffalo K&M Kidney Support) in a bowl, add a small amount of warm water to make that soft and creamy and then top it off with a nicely sized dollop of the creamed Paw Lickin'Chicken. She also gets an additional small treat on top of either Hill's Hypo Treats (that I crush in the blender to make into a fine powder) or a crushed piece of Life Essentials Cat Man Doo Freeze Dried Chicken (which if it was up to Sasha she would eat 24/7)! Unfortunately, when you have a kidney cat you have to get fairly creative to get them to eat and maintain weight without overdoing the protein and the phosphorus but it's worth it to keep them around as long as we can. You may want to check with your vet to get their input.

Cats stopped eating it suddenly

Our two Bengals were happily eating this food for about six months until the most recent autoship. Not sure if we got a bad batch, as it didn't look or smell off, but they both vomited (not normal for them) once after eating the new cans and they will no longer touch it or any other Weruva variety we've tried. Unfortunately it looks like we'll have to switch brands again. The two cases we received expire June 2025 with numbers NX2206/N6W2H on the cans.

Great but inconsistent as mentioned by others

Great product for our picky 2 younger cats. Healthier than most cat foods. Real chicken. But as other customers mentioned, sometimes the can is half broth. We need maximal chicken for our hungry kitties so I wish this company had better quality control per can.

Would eventually eat it, but never finishes.

Looks like real chicken, smells good, has hydrating gravy. Picky cat eventually tries to eat but I think has trouble because the strips of chicken are decently big. Never finishes the portion, but it's pretty good.

Phenomenal!!!!!!!

My kids, ( Mickie and Minnie), are used to Purina purely. Very expensive. I called customer service and was advised to try this. Well, first of all, it looks and smells terrific. The two of them could not stop eating it! Full of gravy! Great product, and less money, for me. Try it! 5 stars

Weruva not so good

I wanted to give this food another chance, bc my cat that is now 1.5 yrs old loved it as a kitten. Now she just sniffs and leaves it in the bowl and I have to throw it out. Something is definitely different. Too bad.

Inconsistent contents

Bad first: depending on the case I get, there’s enough chicken in a can for either two or three meals. Sometimes the cans are packed with chicken and sometimes there’s so much more gravy than chicken that it actually can’t go as far. I find this to be extremely frustrating as I have to budget for cat food and can’t rely on this brand for consistent cans of food. Now the good: I am impressed by the quality of the food and my cats love it. It’s very simple and nutritious and seems much better than a diet solely composed of pate or kibble. I like that the gravy isn’t starchy and seems to be more hydrating than other cat foods with gravy. Overall, I like this food very much. I hope the company can find a way to up their quality control!

0/6 not a win

I have 6 cats and each has a different preference for wet food, but surprisingly not a single one liked this. Is the texture weird? I don't know, they are fine with the salmon one but no one touched this.
