Carlisle is allergic to chicken and fish and I had to take him off Weruva. The Vet and I have been working on finding a diet that won't cause any stomach upset or cause him to lose weight. This, knock on wood, seems to be working. His stools are a little loose, but he is also getting Stella and Chewys Rabbit Menu and that seems to help balance the G.I. system. He is also gaining back the weight he lost and is playing again.
In sickness and in health
My 1 year old girl LOVES this food. She tends to lose her appetite quickly with any type of sickness, but always licks her bowl clean with this tried and true meal! Low phosphorus and sodium are added bonuses.
Meowzer Good
Both cats devoured this Steak Frites within minutes. I mixed it with their usual Stella and Chewy freeze dried since new foods must be slowly incorporated into the diet. I bought this for my almost 19 year old since it is formulated to help keep kidneys healthy.
Low Phos and Cat loves it!
Our vet told us to feed our ailing kitty low phosphorous foods but she absolutely rejected the cans the vet gave us. If you go on Weruva's website they have these cool lists showing phosphorous amounts. It was tedious but this one came in significantly lower than the rest at the time and our picky cat just chows it down. And I like that it comes in a can larger than tiny (if it came in an even larger can we'd buy that instead).
Disappointed
I had read that this food was good for cats with urinary issues. When I noticed something off in my cats urine, I decided to buy this food. I was pleasantly surprised when he actually ate it. But then his issues seemed to get worse and worse until finally I saw blood. And I’m convinced that the food did not help. I’m sad and disappointed because not only am I out all the food I bought but also the vet bills. It is what it is, I’m kind of scared to donate this food in case it worsens a poor kitties condition.

First time purchase
Only one out of three liked it. I was hoping all three of my cats would like it, it's hard to find anything chicken free. The quality seems good but apparently it doesn't taste that good.
High-quality, single-source protein — great for renal failure & sensitivities!
My 15 y/o cat has early stage renal failure (kidney disease) and the vet wanted us to start a prescription diet, but I opted for this instead because the price is better, moisture content is high, ingredients are visibly real, & my boy loves it! Pairs great with the PREY (Angus) dry food — and both are great for those looking to feed a single-source protein diet & eliminate chicken. (P.S. My younger cat will not eat this Weruva flavor/line, but only because she prefers fish. We're giving her Weruva Cats in the Kitchen (Kitty Gone Wild) for wet food & supplementing with Orijen 6-Fish dry food. Solved her vomiting and skin issues too!!!)
Yuck! Weruva Tried To Fool My Cats
Shame on you Weruva! You cheapened Truluxe Steak Frites! I noticed instantly as did another reviewer two days ago. It looks like mud. My cats took one sniff and looked at me and said, "What the heck is this, you cannot be serious?" Don't you care, Weruva, that many pet owners like myself rely on this food to care for their Renal-challenged cats? It was one of the few OTC brands that is low in phosphorus and safe to give cats with kidney failure THAT THEY WOULD EAT! Well Pita and Savvy will eat it no longer, not a bite. And I will no longer purchase it. Worse, you give Chewy a bad name by trying to peddle it off as the same food. There should be a LAW requiring companies to state NEW FORMULA--YOUR CATS MAY NOT EAT IT! BUYER BEWARE! My cats are 15-years-old and rely on this food. I don't mind paying more because you need to adjust the price because of inflation but please go back to the old formula and send every cat who was traumatized by this disgusting rebrand an apology.
pudge stopped liking it
I was very happy for find the food that has almost the same low level of phosphorus as k/d for pudge. He liked it ever since I introduced the food to him. However, recently we found that the food texture has changed to a more muddy look vs a more clear look before. And pudge stopped liking it and for every meal would only eat the veggies but not the threads of meat. He would pick out the other food I gave him mixed with this one and carefully eat the rest. Whatever the change of formula is not getting trust from my cat.
