About Weruva Wx

Weruva Wx Phos Focused

This low-phosphorous food is all natural and free of ingredients like powdered cellulose, fillers and carbohydrates that can superficially lower phosphorous percentages. Weruva Wx contains up to 50% less phosphorus than AAFCO’s minimum levels.

Weruva’s Lowest Phosphorous Foods

The Weruva Wx formula has low levels of phosphorous without sacrificing protein content or quality. It offers highly bioavailable proteins for optimal digestion and good amino acid absorption to help maintain muscle mass.

Why Seek Lower Phosphorous Formulas?

As kidney health declines, the kidneys may no longer filter blood efficiently, and phosphorous may enter the blood stream. This can make cats feel unwell, become lethargic or experience appetite loss. The situation can become a vicious cycle as excess phosphorous in the blood further impairs the kidneys. A diet with lower phosphorous, although it will not cure kidney issues, can help minimize these other ailments.

No Protein Sacrifice

Cats are obligate carnivores who need meat to thrive. Meat is rich in high-quality protein, which helps maintain healthy muscle mass. Although cats with kidney issues may benefit from diets with lower levels of phosphorous, they still need adequate levels of protein. Because maintaining muscle mass is crucial for cats with kidney issues, Weruva makes sure their Wx formula includes plenty of protein.

About Weruva

Weruva is a family company, wholly owned and operated by pet parents David and Stacie Forman. They originally developed Weruva, a luxurious natural pet food, for their three rescued cats: Webster, Rudi and Vanessa. After searching for the best cat food under the sun to feed them, they realized the best wasn’t good enough and developed these fantastic recipes using quality sourced ingredients.

Surprised that none of my 4 cats liked this

This was selected for my cat that was diagnosed with kidney disease several months ago. Has very low phosphorous & high moisture which would be an excellent choice for him. However, he's finicky and didn't like it so when that happens, I pass it on to my other 3 cats. They sniffed it and only one tried a bite of it. I tried mixing in some kibble which worked just a little. Will donate the rest to a feral cat colony guardian I know, which is still a win-win situation. I did more research on this & looks like it is sourced in Thailand. Saw a lot of negativity online regarding farmed tilapia from Thailand. Perhaps the chicken would be a better option.

Kidney Diet

My senior finiky cat loves this special diet kidney food! I love it since the ingredients are better than the prescribed brands! It costs less too!

Kitty Wouldn't Eat It :-(

One of my kitty's favorite foods is anything canned by Weruva. I had been searching for a low phosphorus canned food so I was super excited when I found this variety from Weruva. However, one stiff and my kitty walked away. She had no interest in even tasting it. I even tried mixing it with her favorite Weruva canned food, but she still had no interest.

A Healthy Hit!

This cat food was an overall success with my two girls. My 5 year old cat Willow took to it right away - she likes almost everything, but my 15 year old Mavka was more hesitant. Now she enjoys it almost as much as her Press Your Dinner variety (her current favorite). I think this is really good for them, with it’s healthy ingredients, high moisture and low phosphorus, especially for older cats who tend to have kidney issues. Although mine don’t, as far as I know, Mavka has hyperthyroidism and she needs a lot of hydration, plus hyperthyroid cats often develop kidney issues. So I’m not taking any chances. And this food agrees with her sensitive stomach. Overall I think it makes her feel good - her appetite had improved a lot and she seems very content. So I’ll be sticking with this.

Not a Favorite At Our House

I bought this for Minnie Mouse who's phosphorus levels are being watched. She is normally a good eater and the flavors sounded delicious, so I didn't worry that she wouldn't like it. Unfortunately she didn't. I have to "doctor" it up with dry food, her vet doesn't want her to have, for her to finish eating her meal.

My cats LOVE this food

I was shocked when my two youngest cats ate this food. They are not the biggest fans of wet food and they will stand at the cabinet it is in and beg for it!

My cats love this!

All three cats, all different ages, love this wet food. I usually mix a little water in with it and that seems to make it more appealing to them.

Snubbed it

That little heathen of a cat would not eat this food. She walked away. My nieces' cat however, was very grateful for the wet food. We have the most diva-est shelter cat.

Our picky guy likes it

I'm really glad companies are starting to pay attention to the fact that some cats need lower phosphorous levels as they age. Our cat is extremely picky and hard to keep weight on. He refuses to eat any of the renal prescriptions. He has accepted all of the flavors of this line into his rotation, which I am ecstatic about after 2 years of failing at finding even a low-ish phosphorus food that he will actually eat. I'm really glad Weurva came out with this line.
