The chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165 °F prior to freeze-drying, in full compliance with USDA safety regulations. In addition to cooking, Whole Life utilizes a second lethality step during the final phase of freeze-drying. At this stage, the drying temperature is increased to achieve an internal product temperature of 165 °F once again. This additional step ensures that the treats are completely free of harmful bacteria.

Awful product that should be recalled!!

I have bought these treats for my cat for years and used to love them. They were soft, crumbly, and easy to mix into his food, perfect for older cats with dental issues. But the formula changed some time within the last year, and now they’re rock hard and nearly impossible to chew. My senior cat can’t eat them at all, and I worry that he will damage his teeth if he tries to chew them, or he will swallow them whole, which is not good for his gut! Also, the packaging is misleading! The don’t look anything like the photo, and it's hard to believe that they are good for a cat's gut or even made with yogurt. The company should be ashamed of their false advertising! Honestly, I'm beyond angry about these treats. My cat loved them, and now I can't find anything comparable. I cannot believe that the company can continue to sell these at the exhorbitantly high price when they don't even resemble food! I agree with several of the other reviewers who said that you need a hammer to even break these up into something that cats can (or will want to) consume! I am going to be sending a message to the company with my complaints and concerns. I believe that the company should recall this product and take customer concerns seriously. Chewy should also make a decision NOT to sell these products. I’ve seen many other complaints, and I encourage others to write to the company too. We care about our pets, and our fur babies deserve better products! And as a final note - I gave this 1 star, but if there was an option, I would give it 0 or less than 0. These are awful!

Well I didn't try them myself but my cats licked their lips after trying them.

I'm trying to give my 3 cats better food and am choosing to go freeze dried for now. They do love their usual Friskies/Temptations but b/c they also like these Whole

The old style was so much better now they are like tiny little rocks. Junk I will not be buying these any longer unless you go back to the original recipe.

Soaking them in water didn't help. The treats don't look anything like the picture on the package - it's probably a computer generated image. I should've read the reviews before purchasing. :( I guess the next option is to try crushing them up with a hammer, lol.

I NEVER write reviews but this reformulation is so horrible I am compelled to write. My two cats are rescues abandoned in the streets as babies. As a result, THEY EAT ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. They loved the old version of this treat. They literally spit out the new version. I tried hiding it in their wet food. One refused to eat the entire meal and the other removed the treat and threw it across the floor! I don’t know what they don’t like but the reformulation is a giant fail here. Also, what’s in the bag has zero resemblance to what’s pictured on the package. Sorry Whole Life but I’m searching for a competitive product now.
