It says “bites” in the name, however, my dog just swallows them whole without chewing. Is it just as effective if the product is not chewed?

Game Changer for NYE and July 4th

My older poodle mix really suffers from anxiety when there are fireworks on holidays. The older he gets, the worse his anxiety is. Fireworks of any kind set him off. He trembles and his tiny heart races for hours at a time. He won’t potty or sleep and it’s awful for him. We do everything we can to soothe him, but nothing worked. Until now. I purchased these hoping they would save me the cost of a vet trip and they did not disappoint. While he still reacted to the fireworks, his suffering was greatly diminished and he recovered from his reactions faster. I really like that these supplements can easily crumble into his food. His teeth (what few he has left) are bad, and he can’t eat hard or chewy foods. These were easy to crumble up into his food and did not upset his stomach at all. Since he’s only 10 pounds I gave him only about 1/3 of a supplement at his dinner feeding, and then gave him another third later in the evening when there were more fireworks. He was able to go out to potty and he rested in bed even though it was noisy outside. I’m so grateful this product helped mitigate his suffering!

No effect

I have a hyperactive / anxious German shepherd and I gave her the max dose even more and haven’t noticed a change in her one bit so if your dog has these issues

Dozer who is 12 years old, developed anxiety over a year ago. He would hide, shake and be very timid. Of course it was worse when left alone. My vet prescribed medication but I wasn’t really interested on giving him something that made him sleep, so the hunt was on for a more natural supplement. After researching a bit finding out which natural supplements would help with his anxiety, I started looking for something with all ingredients I researched. Found these on Chewy and it took a couple months to really see a change but these worked! I have my old Dozer back!

Something not right with this product

I have purchased other products by Zesty Paws and have had no issues BUT these calming treats made my golden retreiver super sick. The first night we gave him a smaller dose as it says to start slowly and a few hours later he had a terrible accident involving a MOUNDS of soft poop/diarrhea. The smell was HORRENDOUS! He has never had an accident since he was house broken as a baby. He ALWAYS alerts us when he needs to go for a walk or into the backyard. Totally out of character and obviously could not hold it. Not associating it yet as it was 3 in the morning and I was busy tending to him and my area rug (picking up as much as I could due to the consistency, using a sanitizer. Shampooing with my carpet shampooer numerous times, sanitizing again & sanitizing the machine. Took me over 3 hours)...the next night my husband gave him a smaller dose and a few hours later it was deja vue. We hadn't spoken abt the night prior yet. He was about to take him on his late night walk. In the 30 seconds or so of turning around to grab the harness/leash he let loose again. He wasn't acting sick. No change in energy/playing. He was drinking water which he threw up 20 minutes later. I mentioned it to my husband not realizing he had already given him the treats. Lots of fireworks were booming which was the reason for the treats. Our boy is only 18 months old so not much exposure to fireworks. Fed him white rice mixed with some pumpkin puree to give his gut bland food (starting at dinner time). Once the treats had passed thru his digestive track the mushy/runny poop stopped completely. We will NEVER use this product again for any of our furbabies. Honestly we were both really shocked that he reacted so badly. The normal brand we've used was out of stock everywhere. Guess they don't cause this issue. Obviously we do not know if the sensitivity is relative to his breed but I sure appreciate reading reviews from individuals and not the actual company. Owners beware!
