When switching your dog's diet, we recommend that it should be done gradually over 5-7 days, increasing the amount each day with the present diet as sudden change in diet may result in digestive disturbances.
My dog is allergic to potatoes, chicken, and grains. This food seems to do the trick for him. Sometimes he gets tired of the eating the same thing so I have to spruce it up with some beef broth but he seems to like it on a consistent basis. I’ve searched far and wide for a good that he likes and doesn’t cause allergic reactions, this is it. He’s a lab/hound mix 85lbs.
He is enjoying his new food and we’re finding that he’s more satisfied after his meals.
We started our dog on Zignature Limited ingredient lamb and rice a few months ago. When I came to reorder it was out of stock, so I decided to try this stuff. We transitioned for about a week and Lola would not touch it from day 1. We topped it with her normal human food regimen and still a struggle to get her to eat it. At first her stool was somewhat mushy. After about two weeks came explosive diarrhea. I mean bad! I’m fairly confident it was this food. Not sure what is in it that caused this, but threw away 95% of the bag unfortunately. I didn’t even feel comfortable giving it away to a shelter as I didn’t want any other dogs to go through what our dog did.
You can see the quality & my 3 chows went crazy for it at first. All at the same time they refused to eat diamond naturals salmon I later found a worm in a just opened bag & the color changed as well over the last 4 bags. This was all after a year of feeding DN so something changed. I also ordered the turkey formula & when they got a whiff of it they refused the lamb formula. Chows are beyond picky so I say the lamb formula is just as good as the turkey but when offered 1 bowl of lamb & 1 bowl of turkey they all 3 went to the turkey.
My dog has tried and loved almost every Zignature dog food available. Favorites: Kangaroo, Quail, Lamb, and Salmon. We supplement his food with a little bit of oats, so when I saw a “good grains” version of Lamb, I was pretty psyched. Henry the sheepdog has tolerated every food flavor switch like a champ. This time, not so much. He has thrown up every day since we started this food, and today he flat out refused to eat it. With the quality of Zignature, I’m pretty certain that there’s just an ingredient in the new food that he can’t tolerate. Back to the original versions and oats!
My mini-schnauzer really loves this food! My husband and I had to switch his food due to allergies. We are so happy he was into it!! Good quality ingredients and we also purchased the treats!
My boy, Riley, literally comes RUNNING when he hears me getting out this bag of food. He's never done that with any other dog food. He wolfs it down! Only issue with the food is the price is high but apparently, Riley thinks it's worth it and I think Riley's worth the extra bucks so, there you go!
I've been feeding this food to my dog for years who has multiple allergies, namely to all poultry products. It has kept him healthy thanks to minimal ingredients.
My dog who is not a picky eater eats it. I switched to this dog food after my vet recommended a grain formula. The vet did not recommend any brand to me. I chose this brand, because they never had a recall to my knowledge.
I had heard that grain free was not a great long term option for dogs due to heart complications. I have had great luck with Limited Ingredient options from Zignature in the past so I tried this product. Within a short period of time, my poodle mix develped skin allergy and ear allergy...the exact reason we went grain free before. I guess it's back to grain free.
