Kitten Weaning to 6 Months of Age: Feed 2 1/4 cans per three pounds of body weight per day.
Kitten 6 to 12 Months of Age: Feed 1 1/4 can per three pounds of body weight per day.
• Feed according to the age, size and activity of your cat. Feed at room temperature and refrigerate unused portion. Always provide plenty of fresh water.
• These recommendations are guidelines only, and should be adjusted upon your cat's health, body condition, life stage, sex, activity and climatic temperature.
Gradually transition by adding a small amount of American Journey wet food to your cat's current diet, reducing the amount of the current diet and increasing the amount of American Journey for 7 - 10 days until the transition is complete. This will allow your cat's digestive system to acclimate to the new food without causing any tummy upset. We recommend the following protocol:
Days 1-2: 75% old food with 25% new food
Days 3-4: 50% old food with 50% new food
Days 5-7: 25% old food with 75% new food
Days 8+: 100% new food
American Journey is exclusively made for and distributed by Chewy. American Journey Wet Cat Food is manufactured in our partner facilities, located in Kansas, USA.
No, these cans are BPA non-intent.
The cans have pull tabs for easy opening (like a can of soup).
Cover the top of the can and place in the refrigerator. For maximum taste and freshness, serve the leftover food within 3 days of opening.
What if my cat doesn't like the food when it's cold? Place food in a microwave safe dish and cover. Microwave for 15-20 seconds. Stir the food to ensure its heated evenly. Before serving, smooth food with a utensil to increase your pet's ability to lap up their food.
Empty desired amount into your pet's serving dish and smooth out the food. Discard uneaten room temperature food after 3 hours.
It's important to pay attention to your cat's behavior as you try new proteins. Some cats are picky and only like one specific protein such as fish or poultry. Once you understand what your cat likes, it's best to stick to food purchases within that protein family in order to increase enjoyment of the food by your cat.
American Journey sources ingredients from reputable suppliers in the US and worldwide, dependent upon availability.
Natural flavors are made from components of ingredients that are naturally derived and processed into concentrated flavors. Natural flavors are often used to enhance the taste or aroma of products.
If you plan on transitioning to a new American Journey canned cat food flavor, we recommend mixing the food gradually for 7-10 days until the transition is complete. For sensitive cats, we recommend a 10-14-day transition.
We have updated our packaging across our American Journey food, but rest assured, all of our American Journey products still have the same great taste and high-quality ingredients.

My kittens were adopted from a shelter that fed them dry food so I’ve made sure to get them adjusted to wet food and I make them raw meals myself whenever I have the time and money because it’s better for them overall. But when I don’t have that, they have loved this! I use this as a back-up from their handmade meals. They really go for it every time. And there have been a few brands that they are not into, but luckily this one is a good deal for the quality.
Sadly, the underweight adult cat this was purchased for won't eat it, even after repeated introductions and making sure she was hungry. Even hungry, she'll just nibble at it a couple times, then walk away and persistently ignore it. Moreover, the other two cats in the house also won't touch it, and they're not too picky, especially if I offer their sister's unfinished food dishes.
My 3 month old kitten won't touch this brand. I wish I could return it.
This is a great kitten food! I have Maine Coon kittens that need a lot of protein for rapid growth and this along with some organ meat does the trick
I’ve tried countless foods to keep my old cat interested. She has trouble with appetite and keeping weight on. She loves this food and it’s way cheaper than the Wellness food it replaced. Even better she’s getting heavier. Weird to see a bunch of flax seed meal in the pate, but whatever she’s eating and I’ve noticed no ill effect.
I bought this for my two foster kittens who generally are not picky with food. The ingredients are much better than the fancy feast kitten food they are used to, and the cost was not too much more. Unfortunately both kittens took a few licks and walked away. I then tried to give it to my three adult cats and none of them would even touch it. If your cats will eat it, it seems like a quality food. I will be donating this to the rescue center in the hopes someone will eat it.
Unfortunately my kittens DO NOT like it! I bought a case and I need to find out if I can return the remaining 21 cans as one eats it in the beginning, like a teaspoon and the other will not eat it at all.
Had second thoughts on the product. Order it anyway for our 6month year old Tuxedo kitten. He can't resist it. Solid product.
I have fostered over a dozen kittens and have 3 cats. Not one of them has ever eaten this stuff. I don't know why it is on the Kentucky Humane Society's list of foods, but even the dry American Journey goes uneaten by all fosters and my 3 house cats. I even put some out for the squirrels and they don't want it. Something is terribly wrong with this formula. Don't buy!
I was happy to find a species appropriate kitten food for a reasonable price. My cat has eaten it happily, and I'm grateful it attracts her with the smell of roast chicken rather than fish like many cat foods
