Some cats need more time and encouragement before they start enjoying a new food, especially if they've been eating dry food only, or a wet food with artificial flavors, corn, wheat or soy. If your cat doesn't go for American Journey at first, don't worry as this is totally normal. A little patience goes a long way. Aside from following the recommended transition instructions, here are some tips to help ensure a smooth transition:

This seemed like such good food. I thought the ingredients sounded great. And it smelled like human baby food when I opened the can. But it gave all 4 of mine horrible diarrhea. I thought maybe it was because I gave it to them 2 out of their 3 meals the first day. That maybe I'd just given them too much too soon. But when I tried it again a few days to a week later after their tummy issues had cleared, (only for 1 meal this time), it made all 4 kitties sick again. I have 2 kittens, 1 adult who is 4, and 1 senior who is 16. All of them absolutely loved the food. I've been trying to give them a little variety and this was by far the favorite of all of them. It was the first time ever that my senior boy ate his meal just as fast as everyone else did. I was really hoping this food would work for my furfamily. I love the ingredients list. And I really wanted to start using fewer cans, so the big can size sounded great. But with 3 out of 4 of my babies at fragile ages, I don't think I dare try this food again. That's unfortunate considering I've only used 3 out of the case I purchased. So, I'm a pretty disappointed cat mama right now.
Originally bought this food because it was suggested, I will NOT buy it again. I figured that there would always be reviews stating that a food made someone's cat sick, but I never thought it would happen to mine. My boy has been the healthiest cat and now he is getting his feces everywhere and is panicking because he's having leaky butt... Yes, he is on a probiotic. Yes, I started with a slow transition.
This is most nutritious food I can find in the large cans which I need for 3 cats. Even though, I wish it cost less because it is hard financially. I do have to add my chicken and sometimes moist kibble to it to stretch it out with 3 cats. The one thing I wish they would use instead of the gums is organic gelatin like from bone broth. It does come dry and is for thickening.
I am a teeny bit sorry someone messed with the website in the last year because it was PERFECT in the past years. Menu was super easy - right there on front page and I liked the “previously purchased” list on the front page also. Seems there is quite a bit of ad use there now. However, it isn’t difficult to navigate, just not as easy as before. Orders are always perfect and quickly received as well as continual updates. HUGE plus is customer service number on every page and quickly answered by a REAL person (in the US) and a knowledgeable one no less. Sorry the web site has changed from a year or so ago, but LOVE everything else about Chewy! Thank you !!
My cats will eat it but it’s not their favorite so I’ll probably go back to their other food. Was just trying to save on costs with the big cans. I do like the big cans. Feels like less waste
I’ve been using American journey chicken patty for my cats over ears but this year they open the 12 ounce cans. It’s absolutely disgusting. They did something and change the recipe and now it’s soupy the color different and darker than the 3 ounces can the texture it’s completely different and they smell of the Kenwood you open it’s awful comparing to the 3 ounces can. All my six cats refuse to eat this no matter white I even try to offer to the stray cats outside which also are used to the American journey bad day, and even them refused to eat this awful 12 ounces skin I don’t know what’s going on with something need to be done because this is not the first time that I report this to the customer service. So if you want to continue use the American journey, do not buy the 12 ounce cans ! I do not recommend this 12 Oz product!
Trying to find new foods for my picky eaters is quite the challenge, as many cat owners can relate. Ordered this pate because I cannot have sauces for one of my cats. She gobbled the food down immediately and licked the bowl. Its clean ingredients are a plus, and it keeps my cat (who usually is always hungry and begging for food) satisfied until the next meal. Will certainly keep this on my autoship list!
My click cats love the larger cans of chicken and beef American journey
Despite the ridiculous price increase, I went ahead and ordered two cases of the almost-13-oz cans. 24 cans - 14 dented, some badly. Really, Chewy?? I'd like to say it's the first time but I've gone through this with canned food from you before. Dry food, litter are usually fine but why the dents?? At this rate, I may just bite the bullet and go back to the local pet stores since there's little savings on these canned products. In all fairness, the cats do like the food and it seems decent quality.
My cats love this food, especially the chicken recipe. There really is not too much more to comment about, except perhaps the fact that the price for the AJ pate formula seems too high.
